I bought these boots in 2006 and do not have one single complaint about them. Best boot I've ever owned. Lightweight, comfortable, durable, etc. I've climbed hills, mountains, been in and out of rivers, lakes, oceans, you name it. Love them, will buy another pair when these finally die.

Overall, this is a good boot, very comfortable. I wore these in Afghanistan for about four months and about halfway through, the rubber on both toes began to seperate from the boot. Not sure if it was a combination of the heat and and walking on the rough terrain or what. I love Merrell's though, and will continue to buy from them.

Long time user of Merrell (leather)hiking hundreds of miles/year, this year was nagged by hiking companion to try Moab mid-cap for red rock expeditions in Utah. She was right! as the Moab was best value I've ever found - perfectly solid for slick red rock in low country - and very comfortable, particularly aided by adding Dr. Scholl's athletic inserts. I measure a 10 but always buy 10.5, as I like toe room and additional sock room for winter months, and for steep descents. Merrell's lacing system allows me to adjust tightness after breaking in boot, but I would prefer more than one hook grommet near boot top on Moab. Notwithstanding, after a couple of hundred miles, the Moab is not sufficient for hiking central and eastern Idaho (Northern Rockies), though I still prefer it daily on flatland for comfort hikes. Which brings me to "The Sawtooth." I bought The Sawtooth early this summer and after a couple of hundred miles in the Boulder White Clouds/Pioneers, it is the best working boot I've ever had - hardly a mark on them after tough ascents/descents in Rocky Mountain type shale. Very tough sole, toe and heel. BUT - the hiker has to make it work - unlike the lighter Moab which "floats" with you, hiker has "to walk the walk" with the Sawtooth. Excellent that the Sawtooth has three hook grommets to provide secure ankle fit and support, which I can double-lace downward at top for additional ankle support. (I wear a McDavid ankle support inside for old skiing injury and knee replacement). Boot has much stiffer/tougher sole; again Scholl's inserts for added comfort work well for my feet). No hot spots/blisters at all, and large tongue provides easy access, designed for no entry of rocks/dirt. The Sawtooth provides best security in all mountain conditions. This is a FIVE STAR BOOT!

Big guy 6'4" 250 lbs....this boot serves me well. Fits true to size, comfortable fit, and plenty of support. Looks great with jeans, shorts, made for whatever you need to do and wherever you need to go. Also accommodates my orthotics without any problem. I have even used them while riding my Harley! Great value...great boot.

I have had my Sawtooth boots for about five years now. I wear them at least 3 days out of the week and they are still in great shape! Plenty of tread and the leather is still intact. They still look brand new. I take them camping, fishing, hunting, out on the shooting range it doesn't matter. They've held up through rain, mud everything, and like I said before still in great shape! The can take one hell of a beating. Great job Merell for making an outstanding boot! Austin
