...not for snow deeper than a few inches. I have been wearing these mids almost daily for the last couple of months and have really put them to the test. My feet have always remained dry and warm, despite wind, (pouring) rain & snow. Traction and support are awesome. I LOVE them! There is only one thing I would change about the boots, and that is the laces. I just had to cut short a great hike I had planned with the baby & my pups - wanted to take advantage of the combination of dusk & the snow that was just beginning to fall over the golf course, but less than 10 mins into our trek, the laces on both of my mids came untied. (This is despite double knots!) At first I thought that maybe I hadn't tied one of them well, but when the second one came undone and my shoes filled with snow, I was totally bummed. I couldn't keep bending down in the foot-deep snow with the baby in the backpack and two energetic pups tugging on their leads to re-tie and empty the shoes. It seems that it was the friction of the snow that was actually loosening the laces! We'll try again tomorrow with a different pair of laces. :D This review shouldn't deter you from choosing these mids because they are AWESOME; I just wanted to give a heads up that you should switch out the laces if you plan to wear them in snow.

I brought this last August. I went on the Camino de Santiago with them. They are very comfortable. I do have problem with the shoe laces. They keep coming loose even when I double knot it. The major complaint is that they are not waterproof. We had to walk in the rain. After 3 hours my feet were soak. I actually had to remove my shoes and wring my socks out. Could someone tell me when I can do to fix this problem? Is there a spray I could use on these shoes so that my feet were not get wet when I encounter rain?

The best boots ever. This is my second pair. Light as a feather, yet extremely durable and rugged.. I am able to walk all day in these.

I bought my first pair of women's moab mid-gortex boots back in 2009 for my first solo hike in the Alps. After 3 years of pain-free heavy hiking, I needed to replace them. Tried on different boots at REI. They didn't have this exact model. Had to return them. Finally located the exact replacement boot at Merrell.com. Still nervous they wouldn't fit right. But they are Perfect, pain free boots. They didn't come with the periwinkle blue highlights shown in the advertised pic. Just the dull gray. But they support any terrain I choose to travel over. The most important part of my gear. Hope they'll be available for my third pair.
