Both heel linings split after a few months light use. Very disappointing fail in terms of durability. Both heel linings split and fell apart after a few months of light use. There is very little wear externally but internally the shoes are a mess. I mainly use these for walking to and from work in London to save my leather shoes - about 25 minutes each way. I won't be buying these again I'm afraid. This is a shame as the shoes were comfortable, until the damage happened, and should have been just what I needed.

Poor stitching/strength in heal cup. I've had two pairs of these shoes now and the lining in the heal cup has split in both pairs. I buy them because I like the comfort and support they give and because I prefer them to trainers. I wear them two or three times a week and I also have Moab Ventilator shoes (5th pair) which also get worn two or three times a week. The Ventilators have no issues with the heal cup splitting. The Moab Gore-Tex has a seam in the heal cup, presumably were the Gore-Tex membrane is stitched in place. This is the weak spot and were the split appears. I haven't had any problem with them letting in water up to now, but I didn't buy them for the water proofing anyway. I'll carry on buying the Ventilator shoes which don't have a seam in the heal cup until Merrell stop production but I wont be buying a third pair of these shoes unless something is done about the strength of the seam in the heal cup.

Disappointing durability I have had two pairs of these now as they are so comfortable. The second pair I purchased for a tour of China. I was extremely disappointed that they let water in and I ended up constantly with wet feet. They are now 24 months old, the sole has separated from the shoe, the fabric has perished. I wouldn't recommend these.

Got these as a Christmas present and in less than 6 months they are letting in water. I have given only 1 star as the main feature I wanted was the GorTex waterproof feature. Both shoes are letting in moisture even when walking in dewy grass which I often do with my dogs. I've reverted to wearing my boots (a different brand) for the moment. In fact my previous hiker shoes were a different brand of GorTex ones and I had no problems with them.

Not up to Merrell standards Having worn Merrells for years, I bought a pair of these from Cotswold Outdoors late last year. Yesterday, I noticed the material above the heel cup had separated from the material it's stitched to, which lines the heel cup itself. These shoes have hardly been worn and yet the salesperson at Cotswold was suggesting it was the shape of my foot etc etc. Having seen the reviews below, which are in stark contrast to the ones on Cotswolds website, there is no way would I have bought them. After reiterating my view that the product was defective, I was eventually offered a replacement pair. I don't hold much hope!
