Jenny Bruso

Based in Portland, Jenny always considered herself an indoor kid. Then one day she tried hiking, and things just clicked. It was her therapy, one that she’s happy to put into words in her Unlikely Hikers blog. Today, the former DJ shares the unexpected power of experiencing the trail. When not breaking through hiking barriers, Jenny is more than happy to lead people on them, which she does through her various group hikes. What they find is a leader who is continually amazed by the miracle of moving through mountains. Nature has so much to teach. Jenny just wants more people to open their minds and listen. Through sharing her personal stories, with an emphasis on queer and body positivity, and the @UnlikelyHikers Instagram community, Jenny wants to dispel preconceived notions of what an “outdoorsperson” looks like and put a spotlight on diversity, inclusion and representation.
