Great jacket. Very well made. Totally wind and rain proof. Light weight if that is your concern. You will not be disappointed. Merrell has another winner!!

I have been ISO a well-made light-weight winter jacket for months. After looking at a lot of poorly made and designed stuff, I chanced upon the Forest Seeker on my way out of the mall (jeez, I hate malls.) The pros: Good looking (if that's important to you.) The fabric isn't crinkly, noisy. Thinsulate and NOT down (just as warm, less bulk, no animal torture - all a good thing unless you like looking like the Michelin Man.) Substantial closures (zippers, one-handed toggles, velcro-ed sleeves). Insulated hood. Interior pocket. Love the length (keeps the ol' butt warm but not at all torso-constricting). Sizing: I'm kind of mystified about the sizing... I'm a 5'6", 120 lb. woman and the mens' small was confining in the shoulders and would have been too small with layers (I'm guessing that I'll need layers on truly cold days). I got the medium, which might be a tad big but will be needed when I have some bulk underneath. I cannot imagine how a big guy will fit in this coat unless they get an super-extra-gigantic size. Cons: This garment was made in China. Merrell is touted as having a comprehensive (environment and labor) program, but even though this coat was what I consider expensive at $260 I would gladly have paid extra if it had been made in the US. I am guessing that this might be important to other Merrell customers, too. All-in-all I am loving this jacket - so glad I stumbled upon it!
