I consider this to be the perfect coat. I recently wore it on -10 snowy day at Mt. Tremblant. With a light layer underneath, I remained warm and dry. I love the seam sealed zippers, the attached insulated hood that also covers a helmet, the high collar that seals out the cold, and the inner sleave with thumb holes. The sleaves are wide enough to tuck gloves or mittens into, the powder skirt seals out the cold and the looks are really sharp. The material is tough, yet not stiff. I also recently skiied on a 40 degree day with this coat. Opened the considerable mesh pit zips and I was comfortable. Rugged, warm, dry, stylish, and extremely functional. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - price. I consider this coat to be an exceptional value when compared to other brands. Well done.

I picked this jacket up about two months ago, just in time for the North Idaho winter. I needed something lighter and less bulky than a full winter coat, and with light layering the jacket is just as warm. This is by far one of the best jackets on the market. Spent three hours hiking in the rain and was dry upon return to my truck. The longer inner sleeve with the thumb hole is really nice for those of us with long arms. I really like the hood, good field of vision and fits well enough to not be intrusive. An embroidered logo on the arm would add a little more class to the overall package, but in all, a svelte and comfortable jacket.

I picked up an older version of this jacket a couple years ago (chest pocket is on the inside) and have nothing but good things to say about this jacket. Thin yet surprisingly warm, on 30 degree days I can get by with just a sleeveless undershirt while snowboarding. It's also handled 0-degree cross-country skiing no prob either. It blocks the wind very effectively, and I'm a fan of the longer length -- I'm 6ft tall and have the medium and it's still long enough that I've yet to need the powder skirt on the slopes. I get compliments -- by guys, mostly -- on its appearance a lot too (I have the green military-looking one). Only real knocks I have are that when zipped all the way up my mouth is still exposed (solved by getting a sweet balaclava) and that the color doesn't quite fit in with all the other snowboarders (no colorful styles to choose from). Price may be a bit high too, though that didn't affect me (got it for real cheap off of S&C) Thanks for the great jacket, Merrell!

I find this jacket in my closet...thinking it a joke at first...maybe I picked someone elses up... Come to find out, that the jacket I found fit me...yes, the size was correct... what a feel, warm, snug...and water proof What gets me angry, I was using it while in NY, enjoying that it just kept you warm without getting you over heated! Come to find out when I unpacked that I either left it or someone wanted it more than I... now to save up and buy the replacement!
