One vexing issue. Overall this shoe is as good as my several other pairs of Merrill Sirens except for design change which affects me negatively. The loop at the back of the shoe is attached below the collar of the shoe rather than to the collar as in past models. I have early onset Parkinson’s Disease which causes some stiffness in my right ankle. I rely on that loop to hold the collar of the shoe up so it doesn’t fold over when I put in my foot. The new style doesn’t work that way and allows the collar to fold over which is very uncomfortable. I am very unhappy with this design change and will to rethink my loyalty to Merrill .

Not waterproof or even water resistant I bought these to replace my old trusty Merrels that after nearly 20 years of faithful service had finally worn out. Stupidly I presumed that for £90 I would be getting a pair of waterproof shoes, but the first slightly wet day of our 3 week walking holiday and I spent it with cold very wet feet. So disappointed.

Another great Merrell product I was lucky enough to find this pair in a store so I could try on a couple of sizes. I bounce between a 7 and a 7.5, and ended up with the 7.5. I love the balance engineering built in to this shoe! I feel better with them on and I feel like my stride is improved even in other shoes now, as if it has been corrected. I am a lifetime customer now!

Nice shoe, but wider and Less Support than Previous Versions When my 5+ year old pair of Siren Sports developed several holes on each shoe I knew it was time to retire them to gardening use only and buy a new pair. My older pair was a size 10, fit my semi wide foot perfectly, had great arch support, but was ever so slightly too short (but not enough to warrant a bigger size). I ordered 10 regular again and was a bit disappointed in the fit. I found the width to be far too wide, even on my wide flat feet, and the arch support was greatly reduced. These combined factors resulted in a somewhat sloppy feeling fit. The length was the same as the older version. I kept the shoes as I bought them on sale, and needed something for an upcoming camping trip. For a more serious hiking trip I'd consider a buying different pair with more support/held my arch better. Other than the sloppy fit, I liked the form factor and overall cushion with something low profile. As a trail runner I prefer my hiking shoe closer to a sneaker than a heavy boot. These feel sturdy, but light on my feet. I also ordered the Moab ventilator, and ended up sending those back, and keeping the Sirens. The arch support was better on the Moab, but the toe box was more narrow, which bothered me.
