Initial Pleasure Turns to Dismay - by , Mar 29, 2018

I was very pleased when I received these (purchased thru Amazon) and found that they fit almost perfectly (size 15), with adequate room for my toes. I wore them for a few short day-hikes to make sure no blisters were forth coming. Great! Then, today, with less than 25 miles on theses shoes, I hike the Treasure Trail loop in the Superstitions. When I was ready to hit the downhill portion of the hike, I stopped to retie and tighten by boots - standard hiking practice. "POP!" the top right loop on the left boot (just below the the metal hook) pulled right out. I have to say the cloth lace-loops surprised me anyway as I hadn't had any on other boots. Looking closer now, I see that each loop has maybe only 3 to 4 stitches holding it in, with another row maybe a quarter in further in, that may or may not catch the loop. I don't know if I can trust any of the other loops to last. Very, very disappointed.

Fits perfect; provides the best sole support and boot itself is very light. Extremely satisfied with the purchase and highly recommend a pair.

The great product, it offers great stability. - by , Mar 15, 2018

I am working in Japan at countryside and I wanted to have universal boots that offer breathability and are also waterproof. By accident, I bought Merrell Moab 2 GTX in Tokyo. It is a great product. I walk 13 km per day and these shoes offer very good support and stability. The GTX membrane keeps my feet dry during raining. I am surprided by perfomance of GTX membrane and Vibram sole. I feel my money were invested in right way. Before Merrell, I owned Timberland boots but it was not good investment because of difficult terrain I walked everyday.

These shoes stink... literally.... - by , Mar 12, 2018

I am a long time returning Merrrell customer. I recently bought my second pair of MOAB 2 MID GORE-TEX®. The shoes had a very strong chemical smell when I opened the box. I decided to let them air out for a day but my entire house smelled like the shoes within hours. Had to leave them in the garage because I was concerned for my family's health. Wore them the next day and the smell began to rub off on my clothes. Decided to rebox them and reach out to Merrell. They were so concerned that they didn't respond to me at all. Usually buy two pair at a time. I will be returning both and switching to another shoe company. Very disappointed customer.

Excellent disc golf shoe - by , Mar 07, 2018
5/ 5 Stars
This was the 3rd time I purchased the MOAB's, twice from the 1st generation. With the Vibram soles and superior traction, these are my number one choice for disc golf shoes. Disc golfing is played through various terrains and requires a good hiking shoe that can adapt to different surfaces. They wear like a tennis shoe with the features of a hiking shoe. Will continue to buy these in the future. With heavy use they last longer than I expected. I hope Merrell will make the MOAB socks again, that was a great combo to have the socks and shoes to match. Hint, hint....

Last pair of Merrells - by , Mar 01, 2018

I am a turf management student in South Carolina and a soon to be Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. I go to school four days a week and the other three days I work at a local golf course. To say that I depend on comfortable footwear that's durable and waterproof is a huge understatement. I originally received a pair of the original Moab Mid Gore-Tex as a gift in January of 2017. These boots were used for walk mowing greens and other tasks on the golf course solely for the three days I worked. They broke in pretty fast and were extremely comfortable for the long hours on my feet. After four months of, in my opinion, relatively minimal use they, they started to fall apart. They were no longer waterproof, the soles were starting to detach, and the fake leather around the boot was peeling off. Merrell's return policy is to send the boots back for inspection. This meant that I had no waterproof boots that I could work in for the time being, but I understood and respected their policy. It took a little over a month, but I received a pair of the Moab 2 Mid Gore-Tex and they felt even better than the originals. For a while I was very content with these replacements, but after about five months the same problems seemed to arise. For the time being, they remain waterproof, but the fake leather is starting to peel off and the soles look like they are starting to come off again. Several people I work with that have had Merrell boots have had the same exact problems with various different styles. This same group of people have all gotten either Keen boots or Saucony waterproof trail running shoes. I'm very disappointed with the very short life I have gotten out of a boot whose brand is supposed to be very reputable. I don't know if I will be getting another pair from Merrell again. There are other brands that have a good of a reputation and their products seem to last longer than four to five months.

never lets me down - by , Mar 01, 2018

I've been a Merrell hiker wearer for over 12 years. Their sizing is true, which is huge for me because I have to order via the website without trying them on as I would be able to do in a store, so it's important they fit right "sight unseen" out of the box. I've also been wearing Merrell in all the hard terrain of Afghanistan and they wear well, hold up, and are comfortable all through a long day. Shipping to Afghanistan has also been hassle free and relatively quick considering the distance and challenges of shipping things here.

Super comfortable. Sturdy design - by , Feb 28, 2018

Bought these 1 week before going on a 4 day backcountry camping and backpacking trip in Big Bend National Park. Wore them one time around in my apartment before actually using them out on the trail. No break in process necessary. These boots are super comfortable from the get go. They handled very rocky terrain, and 30 or so miles of hiking switchbacks up and down hill with ease. It is the type of hiking boot that you forget you are wearing because you don’t have the foot pain/irritation and you can focus on other aspects of the hike, instead of on your footing.
