Q&A
Q: Thinking back to your first outdoor experience, what advice would you give to your younger self now that you know what you know now?
A: Everyone's outdoor journey is going to look and be a bit different, but we all had to start somewhere. Ultimately do what makes you happy, embrace each outing and experience, keep saying yes to things that excite you, keep learning, growing and pushing yourself, and most importantly keep having fun!
Q: What is your favourite Merrell product + why?
A: I have been loving the Agility Peak 4 — they're lightweight, well-cushioned, comfortable and have good grip for trail runs in the rockies. For colder months and just everyday, I absolutely adore my Juno clog — I wear them in the car, pre & post hike/ski, and everyday to walk my dog. They're so versatile, cozy and the ultimate comfort slip-on.
Q: What 5 items do you never start an adventure without?
A: 1. Extra layer(s).
2. An aid kit that's appropriate for the activity.
3. Bear spray.
4. Water + snacks/food.
5. Garmin inreach and an offline map/physical map.
Q: Where in Canada is your favourite trail to hike/run + why?
A: I love to explore Kananaskis Country, Canmore and Bragg Creek. They are so close to the city which makes it easily accessible even during the weekday for an afterwork pick-me-up. Areas within Banff National Park boundaries are popular for a good reason — it is full of breathtaking and picturesque places, and there's so much more to Banff than just those iconic lakes and so many spots that offer just as beautiful views with varying degrees of effort.
