I’m writing this from an airport. After cruising 8 states in 8 days. This whole trip comprised itself of 2 things – crazy adventure and meeting people we only knew on Instagram. A pursuit to prove that this social media app is unlike the rest – it actually connects people!
At the beginning of the trip I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive. I mean, for one I didn’t know my road trip mates Eric (@LittleCoal) and Craig (TheCraigHensel) that well or the people we’d be staying with. Some of the people we were staying with I didn’t even follow till I showed up to their apartment at 430 in the morning asking to sleep on their kitchen floor – which is exactly what happen with Raul (@Airgate) at our stop in St. Louis.
Within hours of our trip however my apprehension fled. My time with Eric & Craig and the rest of our crew reminded me of those days when I was younger and my parents would drop me off at summer camp and I’d be nervous biting my nails wondering if these kids would think I’m cool. And when my parents showed up a week later to get me I’d be running wild and begging them to let me stay. That’s kind of how I’m feeling sitting here waiting for my delayed flight.
I encourage you to check out the hashtag #NeighborhoodFilm. It’s populated with stories and photos from all the amazing people we connected with over the last 8 days. I sat here typing up all the stories but my word count was pushing a thousand words. And a picture is worth a thousand words, right? So go check out #NeighborhoodFilm. There’s almost 300,000 words awaiting you…or about 300 pics tagged for those of you bad a math 🙂
