Reblog from Tough Mudder

When it comes to winter training, there’s no such thing as a snow day for Mudders. While the justifications to NOT hit the gym are plentiful in the thick of winter, now is the time to start training if you expect to crush the course in 2016.

Don’t let your workouts flatline – get inspired, and beat winter workout boredom, with these tips that’ll get you off of the couch and back into training mode.

Try Something New

Doing the same old routine is hardly inspiring. Switching up your workout program will not only give you something new to focus on, it’s one of the fastest ways to see results. What’s more motivating than that?

No Gym, No Problem

Don’t belong to a gym? That’s no excuse. This no-equipment necessary, FULL-BODY WORKOUT from Cellucor athlete and trainer Alex Silver-Fagan is an awesome way to get your blood flowing and endorphins pumping from the comfort of your home.

Train with a Purpose

Aimlessly wandering the gym generally leaves you with a mediocre workout. Before even walking through the door, make a training plan and go into your workout with a goal in mind. Looking for a major calorie burn? Try a spin or CrossFit class. Find your zen and get mentally tough at hot yoga. Discover a new way to workout your entire body in the form of indoor rock climbing or rowing (grip strength is key on the course after all).

The takeaway? While merely surviving through the winter may sometimes feel like Tough Mudder training (shoveling snow and navigating slick city sidewalks can be a full-body workout) it’s important to keep your eyes fixated on larger goals (like your first headband, or new Legionnaire status) that’ll inspire you to put down the remote and pick up a dumbbell.

For extra training motivation, commit to the challenge (if you haven’t already) and sign up for a 2016 EVENT.
