A Bit Narrow, but Good - by , Jan 22, 2020

I've only had these for a few weeks but I don't want to forget to leave feedback. For starters, shipping is quick and the shoes fit true to length. My only gripe, and the reason I knocked off a star, is that there's no width choice--all shoes have the same length:width proportions. They feel a little too snug on the sides of my feet, but not so tight that they're noticeably uncomfortable or pinching. Note that my feet have the same approximate proportions as those of a duck, so y'all with kangaroo feet might find these exceptionally roomy. The toe box is much wider, relatively speaking, than any other shoe I've worn, so my toes have plenty of room to splay (apparently that's important). If you want to "feel the ground" you'll get plenty of tactile feedback through the sole without having to worry about pokes--the sole is protective enough to keep me comfortable on gravel surfaces. I haven't noticed any pressure points or rubbing while wearing these. They're very light, very breathable, and overall quite comfortable. I'm strongly considering picking up the leather version to use as my casual shoes. They are that good.

I wish the toe protect look a bit odd but other than that - great show.

Wide toe box is perfect - by , Dec 31, 2019

These are the most comfortable shoes especially for the toes with the wide toe box. No “breaking in” period, these fit great straight out of the box. Between my spouse and me, we have 5 pair of Merrell shoes. We use these for both trails and in the gym. Having the zero drop heels matters to us.

Merrell, it’s that walking on a cloud feeling right out of the box.

Best barefoot shoes for lifting - by , Dec 24, 2019

I love the vapor glove series for weightlifting and light running. This edition seems to be more durable/reinforced than previous editions, but time will tell. I just wish the shoes were not so aesthetically garish. After 4 generations, why hasn’t Merrell figured out we want simple colorways? All black would be fantastic! The current “black” colorway has some vague green/camo in it. And the giant toe guard (which has remained unchanged iver four generations) is visually unappealing, so ideally that could be reduced in size in the next version.

Best Vapor Glove Yet - by , Nov 27, 2019

I purchased these to replace my Vapor Glove 3s, and so far these are even better. They feel like the soles are of a stiffer, more durable material than the 3s. I haven't encountered any problems with these, such as the odd toe crease on the 3s. I would definitely purchase these again.

Very good fitting, minimalist shoe. Good for working out, sprinting. Would recommend for anyone who is used to minimalist shoewear.

First barefoot shoe - by , Oct 27, 2019

I have never worn a shoe like this before but I do enjoy being barefoot so I thought I'd give it a try. First of all I wear about a 12-13 in athletic shoes so I got a 12 which ran big so I returned it for a 11.5 it fits perfect. It definitely is a cool feeling wearing this shoe and I have narrow feet so it really hugs my foot well and gives me room for my toes. This is probably my favorite and most comfy shoes I have ever owned. I have ran in them on cement which hurts, but on grass it is a lot comfier. I am assuming it takes some getting use to. I do about 10 miles a day with these shoes and wear them to work and workout and all the time. My only issue I am having with this shoe is that it seems that the bottom of the shoe is pulling away from the top and it looks like there is glue from it. I did see this in other reviews. Hopefully they last long because I love these shoes and I would recommend them as being a first time minimalist shoe person.

Love the shoe - by , Oct 18, 2019

I've been wearing Merrells for years, so I already know I love minimalist shoes. But the vapor glove 4 really takes the shoe minimalism to a new level. This shoe feels like a freestanding sock, and to a certain extent looks like one too. When I picked up the box it was so light I wasn't even sure there were shoes in it. When you walk around you can feel *everything*. The only thing you can't feel is the shoe itself. I love this shoe, but if you don't like minimalist shoes this is definitely not the shoe for you.

Update to previous review - by , Oct 13, 2019

Just a quick update to my previous review. I’ve run in the VG4 without socks a few times now. Interestingly, the VG4 3D is a near perfect fit with light cushion running socks while the VG4 is a near perfect fit without socks. Even in these scenarios, the VG4 fits a bit snugger than the 3D. This may or may not help when others are trying to determine sizing.
