Big fan, great shoe - by , May 20, 2019

I loved the vapor glove 2 what an amazing shoe. The 4 is great but the sole and the material of the 2 will always be my standard I look for. Nonetheless I am very happy.

A hole in the sole after 53 miles - by , May 20, 2019

Been happy with the VG2 and 3. My 3s lasted almost 600 miles before a hole appeared in the sole. Just got these VG 4s a few weeks ago and there's a hole in both soles with less than 60 miles on the shoe. Very disappointed.

Lightweight and comfortable - by , May 15, 2019
4/ 5 Stars
Very lightweight and comfortable. A lot of room in the toe box, so very comfortable. The only issue is, it's not as stable feeling in the heel as the vapor glove 3, though it is lighter weight and more comfortable in the upper than the vapor glove 3.

I wish this was the only shoe I needed - by , May 12, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
For real if there was a cold weather version of this shoe I would wear that since New England winter is the only thing that prevents from wearing them year round. If sneakers were acceptable as a part of a professional outfit, I would wear them daily to work too. This is the at least the third pair I've bought even though my last pair isn't worn out yet. I wear them not just to run but to walk around all day on concrete. The sole takes forever to wear out, I think my oldest pair lasted a little over 2.5 years of 9 months/year, daily and day long wear walking around on concrete. For a sole that's only a few millimeters of thickness that's impressive. My feet feel great at the end of the day, with or without socks. They're so airy and light but provide just enough protection from rough ground. I wear them straight into rivers and can walk around afterward comfortably without worrying about the shoe being wrecked. I walked 5 miles on concrete in them yesterday and they're brilliant. As long as Merrell keeps making these I'm going to keep getting them.

Good looking and could use more cushioning - by , May 07, 2019

I love the trail glove 4 and hoped the vapor glove 4 would be as comfortable., but it has less cushioning. I have returned them and will try to find more of the trail glove 4s. They are out of stock on the site.

This is as close to barefoot you can get with still having some protection. Please give us a call at 800.288.3124 if we can help. Thank you.

Vapor Glove May 2019 review - by , May 02, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
Summary: I really like this shoe. Will update on durability. Details: I was looking for a minimalist shoe to do a number of things in, mostly workout, but also all around use when I needed something more than a flip flop but less than a full shoe such as light hiking or athletic activities. Although I was not planning in regular use in water, I desired something that would dry quickly if it became wet or had to be used in water unplanned. I did not like the construction of most of the water shoes, they were too rubbery and warm causing the foot to sweat. I needed something with zero drop for squatting and other training. Like: Wearing the shoe is like going barefoot but with protection, it is light and I can feel the ground without hurting my foot from stepping on something pointed, hard, etc. Material, not cotton but feels like cotton, does not make my feet overheat or sweat, but will breath and dry out quickly. Grip, cleats are big enough to provide proper traction when needed but not too big to interfere with training, squating or wearing for other normal activities. So far, this seems to be the perfect shoe based on what I was looking for. Dislike: The shoe ran a little large, I wear a size 10 but the 10 was too large and I exchanged for a 9.5 which fit well. Exchange process was easy. I do not particularly like the color swirl and would prefer a solid color i.e. straight black or blue. Open: Durability, at this point I have been wearing these shoes for about 6 weeks, so I have yet to see how well they will hold up. I have read a few past reports about the earlier versions of this shoe wearing out quickly and will update this review with photos in 6 to 9 months as based on indoor use only, the shoe is still relatively new at this time.

its a shame they don't last longer - by , Apr 30, 2019

I have been running for 6 years now. Started it with bare access 2 then moved to the vapors, 1,2,3 now 4. I think I have gone through about 25 pairs. I am 6 foot 170lbs and run about 60 miles a month. I have averaged about 100miles till the vapors wear out and get a hole in the sole. I run only asphalt roads so it is a rough surface. These 4's are very comfortable but seems this new tread pattern is wearing much faster. My new pair of 4's now have a holes in the sole only after 35 miles. I really wish they would last longer.

Not what I expected - by , Apr 23, 2019

These were not what I thought. More of an all terrain water shoe. I tried them on and that was it. Back in the box and sent back. Not what I wanted as a show at this time.

Great iteration of a great shoe - by , Apr 23, 2019
4/ 5 Stars
I've probably owned 4-5 pairs of the vapor glove 3, its my favorite shoe of all time and i intend to wear them until I die, or merrell stops making them. The new iteration of 4 is great, you can tell they put thought into some of the weakpoints of the 3. My only complaint is that the sizing seems off, i can't put my finger on why, looking at the two shoes they seem identical, but the 4 seems slightly larger around the toe box. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, its just different. I have a little bit of foot pain after wearing the 4s for several very long days, I think its just because my foot is just not used to the larger toe box and I have to strengthen some muscles that i didn't need before in the 3s. My next pair I will go into the store and try a half size down, and maybe it will fix this issue. TLDR if you are a fan of the 3s, go into the store and try on some sizes before you purchase. But its more or less the same shoe.
