Great hiking boot, limited lifespan - by , Dec 17, 2018
4/ 5 Stars
They're a great lightweight, comfortable and waterproof hiking boot. However, the sole is somewhat thin for hiking on sharp rocks and they run a half size too small. After almost 2 years of use, the sole separated from the rest of the boot and they were no longer waterproof. I contacted Merrell and went through the warranty process, and they sent me a brand new pair a half size bigger! Overall, would definitely recommend the boot for its comfort, but even more so because Merrell stood behind their product, which is rare these days. From my experience, I would definitely recommend this boot, as well as this company to any friends or family.

Awesome shoes - by , Dec 16, 2018

These shoes got me to the top of Mt. Sherman, a 14er in Colorado. The shoes were light, comfortable, and great support throughout. My feet had no discomfort during or after the challenging trek!!

I purchased these boots for my husband as a Christmas gift and he has yet to wear them. Butninwill say that the color was accurate, they look really nice, and shipping was quick. I’ll write a performance review once he uses them!

Good boot, not waterproof - by , Nov 24, 2018

I've had a couple of pairs of these or previous models that claimed to be waterproof and none were. If you stay out of the water they are decent hiking boots, however if you are walking on gravel or rocks the soles are not tough enough and you can feel the rocks through the bottoms. I've put an awful lot of miles on these and they are comfortable. They usually wear out after a year or two with everyday use by either the inside wearing through or the seams coming apart at the toe/sole junction, and I've had parts of the sole separate.

It is recommended to treat your footwear every couple months or so to extend the longevity of the waterproofing. Especially once they get past the 1 year mark. Everyday use will speed up the wear and tear process. Please give us a call at 800.288.3124 if we can help. Thank you.

Have worn regular Moab 2's for years with perfect comfort and sole support. Merrill is the best for my feet, however, this boot is a bit too heavy for this hiking 80 year old granny. Am going to exchange for same but lighter weight FST's. For those who have one pair of shoes...choose Merrills.

My husband has been wearing Merrell's for years and they are the only shoes or boots he will wear. They last a long time, keep his feet dry and healthy with good arches.

Mother of all boots - by , Oct 10, 2018

I love these boots and have been buying them for years, on my third pair 1st pair got lost, 2nd pair are for work and the 3rd is for casual. I live in the Northeast and these boots are great for all seasons, the soles are great on ice and even though they are not insulated, my feet have never been cold. I don't drive so I do a lot of walking and standing, so I needed something comfortable as well as durable. And when I'm out and about I catch people checking out my boots and I even get a nod or a thumbs up from people who know their boots

Excellent shoes, long lasting - by , Sep 14, 2018

I've used these boots for the past three years. Each pair lasts about 1 year. I wear them every day, all day. My job is very active, I am on my feet all day and I handle large animals. These boots provide the support I need and are very durable.

For Dad - by , Sep 13, 2018

I bought these for my Dad who, recently retired after 33 years as a Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant and declared he is planning to hike the entirety of the Appalachian Trail. I immediately bought him these Moab 2s as I wore the exact boot through three tours as an Infantry Marine in Afghanistan myself (as some will know issued gear is great, but Afghanistan is tough, so off the shelf gear is authorized for wear). They are literally battle tested, and came out the other side without issues. The Appalachian Trail will be challenge enough for the old Marine, he shouldn't have to worry about his feet.
