Excellent everyday shoe for cool / wet weather - by , Jun 05, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
I wear these as everyday shoes instead of hiking shoes (I usually hike in some type of boots) and they are excellent in all but very hot weather. They are completely waterproof and get good traction even in snow and ice , when these wear out I will definitely be buying more !!!!!

I have always been impressed with the way Merrell fits may feet. Slipping while hiking is never good.

I have always had good luck with Merrell products and the Moab's did not disappoint me. They are very comfortable and provide allot of ankle support.

Great boot for the right purpose, but reconsider waterproofing - by , May 30, 2019
3/ 5 Stars
The MOAB 2 Mid is an improvement over the previous version, and feels more supportive overall. In short, Merrell MOABS are fantastic all around boots for everyday wear, and light hiking/casual backpacking. They are not technical or advanced hiking boots, but everyone should own a pair for the comfort and overall quality experienced with casual hiking and every day use. They have a soft and supple feel that is truly unique. After a lot of research and speaking with experienced hikers, it seems clear that goretex is not ideal for most boots intended for warm weather. There is a lot of reliable info online to support this fact. I'm a longtime fan of the MOAB non waterproof, and realized after trying the goretex version that I should return to them for better ventilation in warm climates ( the goretex is noticeably and surprisingly warmer). The non waterproof MOAB does drain and dry quickly when wet, so I exchanged this goretex pair with that in mind. Note that I do use different waterproof Merrell boots for winter and fall hiking in wet, cold, and snowy conditions, and am happy with the protection and warmth in those conditions.

Great lightweight hiking boot - by , May 15, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
Just got back from a trip to Nepal. I hiked the Ghorapani, Poon Hill, Annapurna circuit for about 2 weeks. These had to be the most comfortable boots i have ever worn! They fit me like a glove. Needed no break in. We hiked about 7-10 miles a day in all kinds of weather. They stood up well and completely waterproof. They performed well on the rocky terrain with excellent support. I liked them so much I’m going to order another pair to keep on hand.

I originally order a 12 M which was slightly too narrow and I then ordered a 12 W which was slightly too wide. I settled on the W and love them. This 4th pair I’ve had. Highlight recommend.

Fits great and will work great for Yellowstone this Summer - by , Apr 23, 2019

This summer, I will be working in Yellowstone. I needed some hiking boots that would be my primary boots for the summer. Not only do I think they will last me the summer but for the next 10 years. Making the decision to get Goretex and this boot, was not easy. But after much research and personal ownership of other Merrell gear, the decision is made. Get these boots, they will last you at least 10 years and by that rate, you will only be paying 13 dollars a year for premium hiking boots.

Good air flow - by , Apr 17, 2019

I have worn Merrell for years. I love switching from waterproof to Gore-Tex in springtime because all of a sudden, one warm day when you are working, you realize your feet aren't sweaty. The difference between full waterproof and Gore -Tex is amazing. I wear boots daily in harsh working conditions and they are very comfortable.

Gore Tex a worthwhile upgrade - by , Apr 13, 2019

I have been wearing the Moab 2 Mids for several years. They are lightweight, but still provide good support. They run slightly on the smaller side for boots. My only issue with the Moab Mids in the past was that they did not remain waterproof for very long. This year I ordered the Gore Tex version and so far it seems like a worthwhile upgrade.
