Down & Dirty Mud Run - New York
Events

Good news New York citizens who like your races muddy: the Down & Dirty Obstacle Mud Run returns to the Big Apple this weekend, and as with last year and the other races round the country it comes in three and six mile flavors.

The first three mile race kicks off at 8am, with the last one at 11am. Although online registration closed yesterday, you can still pay for the event on race day with a fee of $85 for the three mile version and $95 for the six miler.

Heavy Hoist

The event begins at Orchard Beach Drive, with runners taking in open boardwalk, thick woods and even offer a view of the Lagoon across bridges. For the first mile, runners will rush down the boardwalk alongside the ocean, before the event overs up as they proceed back towards the main event site for the second mile into the thick wooded area of Hunter Island. The course then narrows through Orchard Beach Lagoon and over a handful of walking bridges. The final mile sees the runners take on a water crossing through the Atlantic ocean before returning to the muddy main event site.

Jungle Jim

The six mile version follows the same to begin with, but while the shorter race version peels off back on itself at the boardwalk, the six mile variant continue down to the beach by the City Island Bridge, before taking a longer route to the woods of Hunter Island – via the bike path alongside Orchard Beach and past the tennis and basketball courts.

Monster Climb

Both offer a good challenge for those who find a traditional 5 or 10k race isn’t enough for them. Here’s more of what you can expect, with clips of last year’s race:

Good luck everyone!
