The Oliveira Family

In 2015, back in their home country of Brazil, Guto and Jane were stretched to their limits. They were running two businesses, chasing money, and their lives and marriage were suffering. Even time with their two kids was consumed by the mental strain. From the outside, everything looked perfect. “But inside, everything was very bad,” Guto says. Something had to change, so the Oliveira’s changed everything. They decided to start living an adventure, together as a family, living with less. Living with only what they really needed. “No more abundance of things,” Guto proudly states. The itinerary was simple: five years, five continents. Guto, Jane, Caio and Sophia are passionate about three things: being together, heading outside, and exploring. Though the Oliviera family technically calls home a small ranch in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, their one true home is nature. The world is their classroom and adventures like their 12-month journey from Morrocco to South Africa and back up to Egypt are par for the course. Once exposed to the wilderness, it’s hard for them to go back to city for any amount of time. Whether camping, hikiing, or rock climbing, life for the Novos clan is one adventure after the next—literally. The family’s Instagram and Facebook pages (@novosolhos, Portuguese fornew eyes”) look exactly like you’d think they would, filled with breathtaking landscapes and natural sanctuaries.
