For decades we have laboured to honour the trail. Since 1981, it has transcended the tangible tread under foot to become a mindset. We seek the path less travelled, thrive in the formidable face of the unknown to innovate, create and – when it comes to our final delivery – abide by a ‘no compromise’ mentality.

Now, here we are in 2020, 39 years on from when our pioneering founder, Randy Merrell, carved out his own path from industrial shoe-making to handmade crafting, to stand at the pinnacle of hiking footwear as it is today. To embrace the spirit of ingenuity and experimentation that has gone before and reflect the complexities of the pathways of the modern world, whatever trail is taken.

As we stood at the start of another new decade we looked at the trails ahead – and we chose one. One that led us to a new, curated approach to trail footwear. One that saw us take big strides.

Today we deliver, Merrell 1TRL.

This is footwear with fortitude. A premium ensemble that pushes the aesthetic boundaries of footwear fashion and combines it with materials that withstand the elements. A collection that has been tried and tested to deliver our performance credentials and owned technology features including Kinetic Fit, FLEXconnect and Quantum Grip working alongside industry leaders Gore-Tex, Cordura and Vibram. Each range has been custom designed with consideration.

A collective of seeming contradictions that form a cohesive collection of footwear, 1TRL combines both high-spec shoe performance with backcountry utility. The designs are contemporary, yet timeless and each shoe is built for comfort, durability and versatility.  Never has a collection that we have crafted typified our core values more.
