Better than I could have ever expected... - par , août 10, 2020

Wearing a men's size 15 shoe and having a wide foot make it hard to find a shoe that feels great from the moment you put it on. The Men's Trail Glove 5 is that you for me. Actually, this is my first pair of Merrell Shoes, but I can say, in all honesty that they made me a believer and I will be a customer of theirs as long as they continue to build high quality shoes for a runner like me.

A great hiking shoe - par , août 10, 2020

I had a pair of the original Trail Gloves, that I wore for nearly 10 years. I finally had to get these to replace them because the tread had finally worn down to where they became too slippery. The rest of them held up amazingly well, and they made buying these Trail Glove 5s as a replacement a no-brainer. I've hiked with these twice so far, I think these are an upgrade from my previously beloved pair, especially because of the rock plate. I prefer having minimalist hiking shoes to big ol' boots, but the tradeoff was I had to be careful of sharp rocks on the trail. With the rock plates in these, it only makes the shoe slightly heavier than the originals, but more comfortable and less work scanning for sharp rocks. They have been fully wet from walking through a stream and dried out within about 30 mins still on my feet while hiking. I went a half of a size down from my usual size and these fit very well. The toe box has lots of space and the laces are long enough that you could also size down with confidence.

Missing the Trail Glove 4 - par , août 08, 2020

I have had each of the first four iterations of Trail Glove and I loved them. I had also tried the Vapor Glove and was less enthusiastic. On a cold day, with such a minimalist shoe, I noticed pains after long runs in the Vapor Glove that we’re later found to be fractures in my foot. Trail Glove, with a little more substance, never gave me any issues and was comfortable even after longer runs. Trail Glove 4 seemed a big design change at the time with the elastic strap and a different kind of tongue, but I could cross train, sprint, and run distance in them without any rubbing or discomfort. I replaced them with Trail Glove 5, however, after the elastic strap inside broke, and the Vibram tread was looking pretty worn (no more yellow logo...)—about 500 miles in. After my first several runs in Trail Glove 5, I consistently noticed my feet feeling more tired, particularly across the arch. Whereas the shoes don’t rub at all, they feel more minimal—along the lines of the Vapor Glove. Come to think of it, they also fit like the Vapor Glove. If you like the Vapor Glove, you may like these. If you enjoyed the new features in Trail Glove 4, but want more support than Vapor Glove, you may want to look at some of their other models.

The Merrell Quality I expect - par , août 06, 2020

I have owned several different pairs of these in various colors. And I put them through hell. They hold up very well for the amount of abuse they take from me.

Great outdoor trail shoe - par , août 05, 2020

I wore these on my last light hiking trail and I enjoyed them. The arch in the shoe does wonders and give you a added protection for your feet. I enjoy barefoot walking and I didn’t have any foot pain afterwards.

Great shoes. so light and confortable. Great toe box. Once you were those, its difficult to go back to more bulky shoes

This is my go to walking and hiking shoe. My last pairs lasted over two years with A LOT of use, indoors and out. Light and protective. And they don't look bad either!

Arch support to high - par , août 05, 2020

There is an arch support in the shoe that is not what I wanted in a minimalist shoe. I returned the TG 5 and found another pair of TG 4s.

Great for everyday wear - par , août 05, 2020

Great all around shoe, I’ve hardly taken them off. Great intro show to barefoot/minimalist shoes for training and everyday wear. Sizing was a little tricky and required a return but it was worth it.
