My first time trying Merrell and Bought them to Hike Vermonts long trail 275 miles. The inside liner started move and slide around at 60 miles, 100 miles the front toe boxes started to peal away and the rubber was chipping away. 125 miles in and the right back heal where the leather meets the rubber started separating. With the help of duck tape I was able to get just under 200 miles before then went in the Garbage. Its was a total disappointment because they felt great

For $150 its disappointing. Not sure I would recommend them or buy again.

I am pleased with the shoes so far, they are comfortable, no real break in necessary, I have yet to wear them in the rain so not sure about waterproof . So far so good

Got the boots for hiking South Downs Way in southern England. This is a 100 mile trek from Winchester to Eastbourne (on the coast and the English Channel)
The boots worked very well. Light but very able to handle broken ground, rainy conditions and walking across mud and wet chalk ground.
The tread and decking made it very sure footed. It also protected the bottom of the foot from gravel and rock.

First off, I a big fan of Merrell I have owned many shoes from them and they have never disappointed, until now. I ordered these to do some desert hunting at the end of the summer. Hiked many miles in rough terrain, the comfort is what I expected in a Merrell shoe. After a couple of rain storms that pasted through the area I went out on the hunt for deer, after about an hour of hiking through the wet vegetation my right foot started to feel wet then another 30 mins my left foot was getting wet. After about a 3hr hike my feet were soaked, I never walked through any standing water only wet grass and brush. Comfortable shoe but not waterproof.
