The last pair of shoes I need I'm picky as hell when it comes to footwear. I'm very active, size 14, wide footed, flat footed and prefer 0 drop shoes. There's not a lot out there that gives me that "ahhhhhhh" feeling. I loved the toe box of my vapor gloves but, they were ugly as sin in size 14 so, I decided to try the Trail Glove 4's out at a local REI. Right away, I was hooked on these. I planned on using these solely as a trail running shoe but while breaking them in, I decided that they were going to become my all-day shoes lol. Then, one day, I wore them to the gym on leg day and realized they were incredible for squats, deadlifts and just anything I was doing in general. So, I bought another pair. I wear these shoes and these shoes EXCLUSIVELY now. They're so versatile and so comfortable. I own two pairs (one for trails & one for daily and gym wear) and already have my eyes on the newest color. Seriously cannot recommend these shoes enough. Especially for the price point. The Vibram sole has held up amazingly. The toe box is perfect for my feet and normal shoes in my size feel too small now. The really nice thing with these: they're great looking shoes in just about any attire.

Finally found a worthy replacement I have Plantar Fasciitis and couldn't find a shoe that helped until I found the original Trail Glove. Magically over the course of 4-5 months the pain receded while wearing the Trail Gloves. There was a painful transition when I initially started wearing them but then again my feet hurt anyway. As I wore them my foot and lower leg muscles got stronger and then one day I realized I had no pain. So when those wore out I got the TG3. About 6 months ago I went to purchase another pair but I couldn't find them. Last week Merrell sent me an email with the TG4! 5 minutes after I read that email I had my new shoes on the way. The newest version fits like a glove and still provides the best support for my feet of any shoe on the market today. If you have or know someone with Plantar Fasciitis these shoes are worth a try, just make sure to transition slowly into full time wear.

Great shoe but the sizing has changed quite a bit The shoe looks to be improved in every way. The tread pattern on the bottom is much better and the new tongue and lacing system is great. Nice updates. However, the sizing has changed quite a bit. I comfortably wear a 9.5 in the trail glove 3 but I can barely squeeze my foot into a 9.5 in the trail glove 4. The issue is the forefoot width primarily. it is way narrower, which is a step backwards in a minimalist shoe design. A wide toe box allows the toes to spread on impact to absorb shock and allow the foot to function properly. The new, narrower toe box is just not for me. I can get in a 10 but the length is too much. Too bad. I'll have to find another trail shoe.

Wanted to love these but still disappointed I owned a pair of the first trail gloves and wore them to the ground as my day to day/hiking/running/whatever shoes. They were amazing. When I first got these I thought they were a huge improvement. I love the design, it was a cool color (I got the green ones), perfect stack height for me, etc. But sadly after only a week or so of wear of casual wear, the breathable mesh has gotten torn in multiple places. The mesh is vey thin. My old trail gloves have been through a lot and worn through in many spots on the bottom but the mesh is still intact, I'm assuming because it's thicker. I was just really disappointed to spend $100 on shoes that I loved only to have them look like they need to be replaced only a week or so later.

Merrell Trail Glove 4 is the best trail shoe I have tried. Better than the 2&3. Pros: Liner is softer than the 3; this is the first one I can comfortably wear sockless It is as light or lighter (7oz sz 9) than previous models. Fit is perfect (snug in heel and midfoot, roomy, but not sloppy, in toebox) Lacing system is actually even better than the 3. Half burrito tongue, fwiw These are the best looking TGs yet, IMHO. The Vertiver(sp?) color and the red are BA. Cons: not waterproof (but is quick drying). I waterproofed it myself; it worked reasonably well. My feet and legs sweat enough that it doesn't really matter. Lugs could be more aggressive, depending on terrain. I use these for trail running, coaching, and golf. Best suited for soft ground and semi smooth trails. Super technical or muddy trails may require more protection or deeper lugs, depending on the runner.
