These boots are Amazing I had to return the first pair and get a half size bigger. I have no complaints. I broke them in and have been wearing them to hike/snowshoe in the Catskills in the winter. Warm and very comfortable. They definitely need break in time.

I would not recommend these. Found these boots to be uncomfortable on the heels after walking around the house in them for a couple hours. They also rubbed on my shins and I imagine they would really hurt after a couple of miles on the trail.

My feet were warm and dry and the boots looked great. I usually need a thicker pair of socks with Merrell hiking boots, but do not need them with this style. I think the insulated lining may make the boots a tad smaller, but only the difference between regular hiking socks and a well padded pair. These boots, as I have always found with Merrell, are comfortable right out of the box, no break in period. I like the leather uppers, they will be easier to keep clean. The soles have good grip, and although I haven't been out in really slippy conditions I am confident these boots will meet my expectations. My feet were warm and dry and the boots looked great.

I expect better quality from merrell I purchased these boots in the spring of 2016 to use while hiking the Rockies on an elk hunt this winter. I did not wear them until the trip. Immediately after lacing them up, one of the metal buckles at the top of the boot pulled out. The bracket on the inside of the boot did not lock the buckle in place. Needless to say, I was not impressed and had to wear rubber boots during my hikes up and down the rugged terrain-not ideal. Also, the little time that I wore the boots, they were uncomfortable. But, that probably had a lot to do with not being able to lace them up all the way and not being broken in. For the price Merrell charges for this boot, I expect much better quality than what I received.
