Comfortable, Waterproof but runs tight by the toes After purchasing my 3rd Moab 2 Waterproof Merrell shoe and it being stiffer than I wanted I needed a new waterproof hiking/weekend shoe. I tried 5 different pairs before settling on the Capra Bolt Waterproof. The Capra had the best squishiest/comfortable base for my arches. I liked the green color and the tread looked very good. I really wanted one wide enough to use with the smartwool PhD socks so I ordered 1/2 size up. While in the end I did select the Capra, I did notice that the toes are a bit mushed from the side (not the front). I have managed to alleviate the situation using thinner socks (sighs, no PhD Smartwools), keeping the original foot bed and playing with the laces to make them as loose as possible by the toes. The support of the shoes is great. I've used them on a variety of terrain - from rocky climbs, to gravel paths, to long city walks on concrete. The grip is also very reliable with minimal to no slipping on these trails. Although I have not jumped into a puddle or submerged the shoes into water, casual rain/mist/splash damage does not seem to get into the shoes. They do may my toes kind of toasty warm so I try to only use these when the day's temperature is not higher than about 80 F. Perhaps outward ventilation is not as good as with the Moab2. Overall, I am pleased with them, but the tight toes and slight overheating kept me from giving it 5 stars (for rating) or 5 bars (for comfort).

Love these shoes! The color is darker in person but they are gorgeous! I did order a 8 when some of my zero drop merrells are a 7.5 based on other comments. It depends on the shoe but I usually stay between a 7.5 and 8 anyway. They fit perfectly! They are comfortable. We go hiking and cross creeks during our hikes. They do great at keeping the water out until my feet are submerged but then they do a great job keeping rocks and sand out. Which was more important to me than keeping dry. So in that regard, I wish they drained better but overall, I am in love!!

My Favorites These are my favorite Merrell shoes I have ever owned. I would buy 12 of them and keep them in stock if I could afford them. I was able to buy these are go on a 14 mile hike two days later. While climbing on the granite, I could feel the shoes gripping the rocks. Usually I fall and die at least once on hikes, but I did not slide out, although I did trip. The shoes stayed on and I did not have any soreness in my feet, other than what would be expected from the hike. I would walk 3 miles a day on pavement in these shoes and it took 5 months to wear out the tread. Even now the shoe is fine, it just no longer has tread.

5:30 a.m. just got easier I needed a trail shoe that didn't make my toes sore after an hour walk, supported my instep, and kept me dry in the PNW winter weather. Check, check, and Check! I've tried out so many trail shoes, I have stopped counting. These Capra Bolt Waterproof shoes keep my feet dry on the wettest morning walk. I plan to wear these on the PCT this summer. I always size up at least one size in my trail shoes so my toes have room. These don't make me feel like I'm swimming in them, even a size up.

Comfort, good looks, & waterproof too! These sneakers are wonderfully comfortable, but I was most concerned about them being waterproof. Yes, they are! If I bought them again, I'd go up a half size though. I will not be able to wear thick socks with them my usual size 7.
