OCR Obstacle Course Racing I have found a shoe that works excellent for obstacle course races. Allout Peak;s work very well. The grip of the Vibram sole is fantastic on obstacles. The sole never caked on me, which makes a huge difference in weight when running in muddy, moist dirt. Drop depends on the person, but the 6 mil drop is great. I have used these shoes for gym sessions, weight training. The insole could be a bit more padded for those longer distance OCR's. I want to buy another pair, just need to get them in-stock.

Good trail runner, but doesn't hold up long enough. I like the fit, style, weight, packability, and traction of these shoes. I've had issues with durability though. On both sides of both shoes, where the toe protection meets the mesh, the mesh is tearing. I probably have 150 miles on them, mostly on 5 - 6 mile runs on hardpacked singletrack. Its disappointing because they have tons of life left in them, but this point of failure is going to limit their usefulness soon.

Wanted to Love These I really wanted to love these shoes - i was coming from a pair of All Out Charges that i used to death and really loved. I have put about 50 miles on this shoes since buying them, and so far they have caused me nothing but aggravation. I mostly run on rocky trails in the north east - a lot of up and down, big roots, and uneven foot placement. The problem that i have with these shoes is that i can't get them to hold onto my feet in any real way. I get a ton of heel slippage running on flat surfaces, and then any sort of side hill or root causes my whole foot to slide left or right. I have tried a bunch of different socks, different tying on the laces, etc - just can't get any sort of control out of these shoes. Other people seems to love these shoes, so maybe it's just a fit or preference issue, but I'm going to throw them in the back of the closet and switch to something else - maybe back to my beat-up charges.

ALL OUT PEAK, 75 miles of mud and memories! Of all the Merrell shoes, these are ones that I feel very comfortable doing longer miles in. They remind me of the Brooks Cascadia that has been tested and constantly improved for over a decade. I've been running in the All Out Peak for a little over a year now. They have a generous toe box and a tread that does very well on the loose "kitty litter" found in the foothills of Colorado. There are some trade-offs with the shoe however: The extra cushion in these puppies leads to a soft landing and feet that don't look like hamburgers at the end of a long day, but that same cushion can act like an unstable platform on variable technical terrain. I used the All Out Peak to compete in the World's Toughest Mudder and completed over 76 miles of non-stop running, scrambling, swimming, and navigating obstacles on the Las Vegas course full of water, dirt and mud. I used the same pair of socks and All Out Peaks for the entire 24 hours race and my feet and ankles held up wonderfully!

Great feel, concerns about durability Bought these shoes because I wanted to switch from boots to trail runners for backpacking. Chose Merrell over other brands because they always fit my feet better. They felt great on my three day trek on the AT this weekend, but I am disappointed with their durability. As the pictures show, the rocks in the Maryland section chewed up the toe, and the lace tips fell off as well. On a thru hike I need to get 300-500 miles out of a pair of trail runners, and if this much damage happens after only three days I doubt these shoes will come close to that total. I hope Merrell makes design changes to give their future versions of this model more durable.

For a trek of that size, especially with a pack, we'd recommend a higher grade hiker instead of these super comfortable trail runners. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out at 800.288.3124. Thank you.
