I'm a first time Merrell buyer, but these shoes made a believer out of me! These are by far the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever had. The traction is incredible and the stability over rough terrain is fantastic. The only downside I noticed to these are the laces that come with them. Like another reviewer said, the laces are coated in something (probably for waterproofing) and come untied very easily. I found out early on to double knot them and check them regularly. I may end up buying new laces for these as it can be annoying having them come undone often. Aside from the laces though (a small downside in my eyes), these are a great buy!!

Merrell's Reply:

Thanks for the great review. We recommend washing the laces in the kitchen sink with any type of abrasive soap and then drying them. This almost always removes that film and allows them to stay tied. If that doesn't work, give us a call and we'll see what we can do!

I bought Merrell Moab waterproof shoes from Dicks Sporting Goods based on the feedback of this site. They advertise it as ventilated! They fit perfect and they are comfortable except one thing which you realize after a while. They make you sweat really bad and I am not the only one who says this if you read the reviews. Even though I emailed Merrell folks and asked whether they could offer me a solution like an exchange with a better ventilated pair of shoes, I haven't gotten any response yet. This is not cool! I wish I could have given the same kind of positive feedback like some other people. At this point, I do not recommend you to buy Merrell Moab Waterproof shoes if you do not want sweaty feet.

Merrell's Reply:

With the waterproofing membrane in this style it is not going to be as breathable as other non waterproof styles. If you are looking for a very breathable style, take a look at the regular Moab Ventilator's. Thank you for your feedback on this style.

They fit comfortably, the reflective surfaces are an added plus. I get caught outside in the rain quite often and I need a waterproof shoe. These really work out well for me.

Merrell's Reply:

Excellent! Stay dry out there with your Moab Waterproof's.

I am about to buy my 3rd pair of these. I got an average of 3 years out of each pair so far. They are my everyday walking shoe and have survived many miles of walking in warehouse jobs and other everyday tasks. I walk several miles a day in them for exercise during the winter and I use these for outdoor adventures like hiking and mountain biking as well. I have been considering going clipless pedal wise on my bike for some time, but these get fantastic grip on flat pedals and allow me to hike-a-bike as needed. These work great on the XC trails I have here in PA with better grip on rocks and roots than any other shoe I have worn out there. I have put countless miles on both pairs without issues. My current pair is worn through the sole on both feet and even then they are still comfortable. They are worth the price. Replace a pair of $60 shoes every year or so or spring for a pair of $100+ Merrells and replace them every 3 years or so. Seems like a no brainer there. My only gripe is like most have said the laces come untied easily. But a simple double knot fixes that. They aren't as waterproof as they could be, but then mud, and water on trails are hard on anything. The trade off is for breathability and I do appreciate that on a hot day of trail riding or walking. Gotta save my pennies but I know that these are a worthy investment. I look forward to getting at least 3 more years out of my next pair! Both pairs I've had in the past were true to size. I wear a 10.5 in sneakers or boots and they fit just fine.

Merrell's Reply:

Thank you for this outstanding review. If they are lasting for 3 years after constant wear, it sounds like you are definitely getting your money's worth out of these. They must be great if you are looking to get another pair soon! Thank you!
