I used to have Hi-Tec boots. They were heavy, uncomfortable, and didn't do me much good in hot temperatures. After years of dealing with chaffed ankles, athletes foot, and blisters, I finally made the choice to get some better boots. So I talked to my friend who is always hiking whenever the trail is dry, and he recommended Merrells. I went down to the local sports store, tried them on, and fell IN LOVE WITH THEM! I can't tell anyone enough how much I love these shoes. I don't even eel them on my feet. It's like they were custom made for my feet. I'm never going to buy any other brand, and now, I have to prepare for my hike to the top of Half-Dome in Yosemite.

I work 6 days a week on a golf-course in western Pennsylvania... I put these boots to the ultimate test by wearing them every day for 8+ hours in varied weather conditions. These boots are great for summer weather. My feet do not sweat at all in these boots, and they are extremely comfortable. However, and for me this is a BIG however, these boots are NOT 100% waterproof... I will say that they are highly water resistant, but if I'm wearing these boots on a dewy morning, my feet get wet... if I'm wearing these boots on a rainy day, my feet get wet... if I'm wearing these boots on a dry day, and accidently step in a puddle, or spray my foot with a hose while cleaning off a piece of equipment, my feet get wet... and this is not because water is getting in through the top opening of the boot, they seem to get wet near the toes.. particularly near the big toe, and the water continues to absorb into the insole. As far as I can tell, there are no visible defects in the interior or exterior of the boot. I'm on my second pair this month, the first pair was returned for the same reason.. I was convinced there was a defect in the Gore-Tex so I got another pair and the same thing happened. Either I'm unlucky, or these are NOT WATERPROOF. Sorry this is review is so long, I hope its helpful for anyone looking to buy these.

I had to order my boots bigger than usual but other than that no problems. Comfortable!!! You will not be sorry when you order these boots.

Best hiking shoe I've ever owned! Lightweight, Waterproof, and Comfortable are the three main factors when I'm selecting a shoe for long treks. This one has all 3, with Gore-Tex! Sizing was perfect and a removable insole gave me choices for socks. Buying online was a snap, and free shipping was a bonus!

I'm deployed in Afghanistan right now and soon after getting here almost everyone in my squad including the team I am attached too ordered these boots and I felt out of the loop so I got myself a pair but unfortunately they didn't last a month out here. Mine seemed to be the only pair that didn't last in this terrain so I'm assuming it was just a bad pair? Regardless, the entire month I had them was the most comfortable my feet have ever been and that's while climbing mountains and walking over jagged rocks! Love them and will be getting another pair in the near future. Thank you!
