I purchased these boots for my first round trip, rim-to-rim excursion in the Grand Canyon. While I've yet to make the trek (our trip begins next week), I bought these well ahead of time in order to begin using them and getting them broken in for what's sure to be a challenging week of hiking. The boots, to my pleasant surprise, needed very little "breaking in". They were 100% comfortable when I put them on, and hiking in them has been wonderful. I leaned towards these boots after chatting with a Merrell rep, who suggested because of my size (6'5", 300lbs.) and the weight of my pack (over 20 lbs.) that I consider these for their superior support and cushioning. 100% right suggestion, as they have held me up well and I've had very little, if any pain in my feet related to my training, which have exceeded 10 mile hikes. These boots come shipped read-to-wear. No need to waterproof, no need to break in. Just put them on and enjoy the great outdoors. I will most definitely buy another pair of these boots once I wear these out, which, due to their high quality, is likely to be YEARS from now.

I got these for my husband last fall. It took a lot to get him to wear them, but once he did, he fell in love with them and wears them every day. No more sore feet or achey back.

These boots are just unbelievable. I got them as a highschool graduation present 6 years ago, and only now, after well over a thousand miles of intense abuse, am I just beginning to look for a replacement. It's strange how you can come to view a pair of boots as friends, but that's exactly what mine have become. My next boots probably won't be Phasers (they are *unbelievably* heavy and I'm trying to stay lighter these days), but they'll always be Merrell's. Thanks for making such great shoes Merrell! Mike

I just bought my third pair today. I've worn the soles out of my last two pairs and couldn't see myself buying anything else. Not only are they very comfortable, but they also provide great protection from sharp rocks and prevent me from rolling my ankle. I really hope that Merrel doesn't end the production of this amazing boot.

This is my second pair of Phaser Peak hiking boots. I typically wear these during the Fall - Spring. They keep my feet warm and dry as well as offering incredible support and comfort. I barely know i have them on. My balance is better and they take pressure off my knees and back. I also use insoles. My first pair are about 4 years old and I still wear them on occasion. I also own 4 other pairs of Merrell's and for one reason, they are super comfortable.
