My husband has trouble with his feet and these particular shoes he likes a lot he has a size 13 foot somewhat wider than most and these are very comfortable and have quite a bit of support yet make his foot look just a little bit slimmer LOLI would buy them again as a matter of fact we bought them for our son-in-law who runs and wears a size 10 and he absolutely loves them!

As a longtime fan of the Trail Glove, and more recently, the Ascend Glove, I was eager to try the Bare Access Trail. I like having shoes with differing amounts of cushioning/protection, and the extra 2 mm of midsole in the BAT makes more of a difference than you would think. The fit is true to size as expected, since Merrell is very consistent in my experience. There is a more pronounced arch support in these shoes, but it doesn't bother me. I find them very comfortable while running, and the traction and rock protection are great. The upper is a little beefier than the Ascend Glove, but the shoe is still light, and the zero drop and wide toebox are similar to the TG and AG. One big difference between these and the AG besides the arch support is that in the heel cup there are very pronounced pads, one on each side, I guess for comfort and to help lock the back of the foot in place in the shoe. This felt a little unusual at first, but I do not notice it at all while running. The laces are too short if you want to use the extra eyelets, but I get around this by skipping the second set of eyelets when lacing the shoes. I bought the shoes in the Blue/Green color scheme and I have to say that I think this is my favorite Merrell color combination yet. I got repeated compliments on the shoes when I wore them to work to break them in before running in them. Overall this is another great shoe from Merrell, and will be my go-to trail running shoe when I want more cushioning/protection than the Ascend Glove offers. Hardcore minimalist runners probably will not like these, but as long as Merrell keeps making them, I'll keep buying new pairs. Lastly, even though the whole barefoot/minimal trend seems to have waned, I hope Merrell continues to offer shoes/boots with zero drop and the wide toebox. I can't imagine wearing anything else at this point.

This are wonderful trail shoes. I was looking for a zero drop shoe and I knew the merrells I've ran in before had a nice wide toe box. I run in a pair of bare access 3's (size 13) but in the trails I actually had to move up to a 14. Just the way they are cut or the shape of my foot I needed a little more. Also these shoes seem to retain mud, but I have not lost any traction.

These are excellent trail hiking shoes. First day I had them I did a ten mile hike to three peaks in the catskills to break them in. They were comfortable but a little different at first. My second ten mile hike I did a few rock scrambles and they would not slip at all. I'm very impressed with the traction of these shoes and durability. So far I have 30 miles of hiking on them and they still look new. My feet have fallen in love with these shoes would definitely buy again.
