Quality has dropped a tad, that is true (sole separation)- and this coming from someone who has purchased 22 pairs of Merrell's for self and family. I've influenced others to make multiple purchases as well...where's my appreciation gift? Hah! Kidding... Still, I wear the Chameleons most of the time, my go-to shoe for everything (I personally have 8 pairs right now). It was the Chameleon I Mids which kicked off my love affair. I still have those things and wear them occasionally for work around the house. No damage at all, just worn down soles. Today's Chameleons, though still tops in quality compared to other brands, don't quite measure up to those of yesteryear. Please bring back the Mid version, and please tighten up the QC. For the dollar, and being made overseas where labor is cheap, this would easily be accomplished in short order. Thanks for the camo versions too- Now I can feel better about new hunting boots that aren't "really" hunting boots. I am a stalker, so I want light, comfortable, breathable, flexible. I also hike hard and need a shoe that comfortably carries me deep into the wilderness...or wherever I roam. Now...again- BRING BACK THE CHAMELEON MIDS!

I have been wearing Chameleon's since 2004 all over the Middle East in various conditions from high in the mountains, to hot and dry in the desert and have put them to the test. The early Chameleon's I,II held up alot better and to me felt more comfortable to the feet, the newer models are not as well made. Getting straight to the point, they are a rugged, lightweight shoe and I love the fact they slip on. However for a shoe that cost 125.00 and up it is time for Merrell to fix the glued toes/sole by stitching them. Rest assured as the owner of 3 pairs of Chameleon's I,II,III and if you are going to wear them outdoors for their true advertised purpose you will be disappointed when the front toe separates from the shoe and a more durable fabric needs to be used in the heal where the foot slides in and out, as this wears out too quick. Wear and tear on the rest of the shoe in my opinion is durable enough( I,II)( the III's and above are junk) for what I put them through. One last thing I might add is the I,II seemed to fit about as sized but the III and IV seem to fit smaller. As I get ready to go back to the large sandbox across the pond, this time I have switched over to OBOZ and will put them to the test.

I saw the Chameleon 2 a few years ago and wanted a pair since then. Stumbled into an outlet a year and a half ago and due to a crazy sale got a pair for a steal. I always kicked myself for not buying a second pair. I was sad to see the Chameleon 2 go, but now, I just ordered the Prime and am so happy to see what I consider to be one of the best hiking shoes around be revived!

Chameleon shoes slip on shoes are the most comfortable shoes you will ever wear. I have a friend with foot problems and suggested these shoes when I commented on my feet were hurting at work. My first pair of chameleons have lasted beyond my expectations with over three years of wear and many miles. I'm in the irrigation business so comfortable dry shoes are a must and the ability to just hose them off is great. I do think that on my new pair that quality has dropped off. My old chameleons are still going strong except the wear in the heel and where the rubber meets tthe shoe on the toe is beginning to separate. Just for the record, I currently wear four different pair of Merrells. The chameleon is my favorite work or play shoe, hiking, biking, what ever you throw at them. The world outlook slip on is my favorite casual, go anywhere shoe. Unfortunately, merrell has discontinued this shoe and replaced it with the inferior, ugly encore slip on. I truly hope Merrell never eliminates the chameleon slip on, waterproof shoe. Everyone truly should own a pair.
