Betsy blew out the side of one of her shoes just prior to a major trip to the Northwest. I reviewed this boot on various sites and decided it would work for her style of hiking. It is so popular that I could not find it at any REI on the front range as far north as Denver. So I ordered directly from Merrill. I had waited to the last minute, my fault. So I paid the extra shipping for one day delivery thinking that would expedite the process. Unfortunately, that means it expedites when it ships but there appears to be a one-two delay moving the order from sales to the warehouse. So it appeared initially that the boots would not make it prior to our departure. I called Merrill and whined about the extra $30 fee and no boots. Excellent customer service, they waived the extra fee and somehow the boots made it here that night. Fedex delivery to a home 14 miles south of Westcliffe, CO and that is the end of the world. So the boots arrived, they fit perfectly. She wore them on three hikes in the NW on varying terrain. Yesterday, we hiked from Mosca Pass to Great Sand Dunes NP with happy feet. She loves the fit, the weight and the toe box size. No toe or toe nail problems on the downhill portion of the trip.
