This is a great shoe if you want comfort and support. I'm almost 54 and need more than a Barefoot shoe. This shoe hugs my foot and gives me plenty of support underneath the foot for 20 mile a week runs and 8 mile a week walks. Merrell is my shoe of choice for running. Thanks for a great shoe!

NICE LOOKING SHOE. TOO NARROW IN THE TOE BOX. NOT ENOUGH CUSHION. NOT ENOUGH TRACTION. I WILL HAVE TO KEEP RUNNING IN MY BAREFOOT TRAIL RUN ASCEND GLOVES. MAY WORK IF YOU HAVE NARROW TOES BUT ORDER AT LEAST A HALF SIZE UP CAUSE THEY ARE SHORT TOO.

I like everything about this shoe -- the look of it and color combinations, the feel, the flexibility, the way your feet can feel the earth (or the gym floor) through the bottom of the shoe but still have plenty of support. The shoes did run a bit larger than normal and a half size smaller might have fit me a bit better but that is a small issue compared to the greatness of the shoe. I am on my second pair of Merrell hiking boots (love them too!) because they fit my slightly narrow feet well. I really never thought of looking to Merrell for other active shoes since I normally wear ASICS for running and in the gym, but a co-worker came to work a couple of weeks ago wearing and raving about his new Merrell running shoes. I checked the Merrell website and bought my own a few days later.

I like this shoe for gym workouts in the weight room and on cardio machines. Some trail running, which makes sense, since that is what the shoe was designed for.

This shoe is so comfy and sized perfect!! I walk everyday and this shoe is light but has enough of an arch for me and is a bit more cushy than the barefoot shoes. You will not be disappointed, colors are vibrant too.

Purchased these shoes last month when midway through completing a 100 mile section of the Appalachian Trail in TN/NC. My traditional Gore-Tex lined hiking boots were really beating up my feet so I knew I needed something different. Awesome fit right out of the box. I bought a size up since I was using them for backpacking. I went straight from the outfitter back on the trail and hiked the remaining 28 miles of the section hike in these shoes. Toe box was sufficient for my wide foot and shoe very supportive even with my high arch. I found the M-select grip traction sole had great grip as I scrambled over rocks, and navigated both steep uphill and downhill terrain carrying a 25lb pack. Foot stayed in place even on downhills. The only noticeable lack of support came when doing a significant downhill on what seemed to be an old creek bed with fist size smooth rocks that gave away a lot as you moved across them…..thankfully my ankles could handle it. Outfitter I purchased my pair from only offered the sleet/lime color choice. They really showed dirt of the trail fast….I would have preferred one of the darker color choices. I know this shoe was developed for trail running, but I would love to see this technology in a more traditional mid-height style for hiking to give a bit more ankle support for those who might find it a great choice for backpacking. Now at home it is my shoe of choice for walking/day hiking. I will also continue to use it for future backpacking trips.
