I have many pairs of Merrell shoes. The Pulsates may be the best yet. They feel great and look good. I use these mostly for walking, but also often put them on for most any casual event. With my Chameleons, Rove Points, and Pulsates, I have a tough time each morning deciding which Merrells to wear. ;-)

So...Because of my teacher's paycheck, I usually look to low to mid-priced shoes. My last hiking shoes were Hi-Tech, a good, solid shoe after broken in. (I live in Western Montana, and as such I put hiking shoes to the test.) Because I got an Amazon gift card for Christmas, I thought I'd spoil myself and try a pricier shoe & bought these. With the $50 gift card, these Merrell shoes cost me $13.99, $63.99 total, instead of the Hi-Tech Trail Blazer, $43.99, that I would have tried if it weren't for the gift card. My first impression? Cool beans! My heels feel perfectly snug, the toe box, just the right room. Immediately comfortable. The quality seems outstanding...only time will tell on how well they hold up. If I had ANY concerns, its about the tread pattern. On hard surfaces, the lugs on the sole seem to *very* mildly poke the shoe bed up into your foot. NOT uncomfortable, but noticeable. Worn outside in non-hard rock conditions, that disappears, as the ground gives in to the lugs. The only thing I have left to discover: How well will they hold up?...and I wear shoes until they beg for mercy. I give these shoes a definite "two big-toes up" for satisfaction...so far. Oh, I am officially a size 10 1/2, but from experience I knew to get size 11. Perfect fit. But then, my size 9 1/2 hockey skates fit perfect too. -------------- With that said...I just don't get shoe prices. When I bought these shoes on Amazon, they were $63.99. In less than 2 weeks from time of purchase, the EXACT same shoes (as I write this review) are now $89.69 on Amazon. Combine that with the fact that, while I was in the foot-wear buying mood, I looked at replacements for my outdoorsy, rugged sandals that cost me $29.99 on sale in a mall. (They did me quite well, but are well past begging for mercy and are now in their death-throws.) Similar sandals were $65 minimum. (I'll keep looking for 'teacher priced' sandals) It was then that I ran across a pair of Chaco Z/1 Unaweep2 sandals that looked SO minimalist...a sole with 1" nylon strapping to (barely?) secure it to your foot. $99!!! I literally said out loud, "You have GOT to be kidding?!?!" I guess these sandals are for my students that took the education I gave them and found better paying jobs...but I doubt more satisfying. :o)

I bought my first pair of Pulsates the first of the new year 2014. They fit great and I was very happy with them until they unexpectedly self destructed some 9 months later - an apparent problem with the sole and the upper on one shoe delaminating. While this may sound like a complaint, I want to say that I wrote the company of my issue. As much as anything, I wanted to give a consumers report of a product failure and hopefully find some reassurance it was an isolated problem. Having worn the shoes for nearly every day for 9 months, I certainly wasn't expecting any reimbursement or replacement. I received a reply, asking me to return the product and in a couple of weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Merrell was replacing my shoes! I have been a Merrell customer for years and am happy to say I will continue to be a customer. Thank you!

You people are awesome. My first purchase was the Moab Ventilator. I thought it was the Best shoe I ever owned. I am an avid walker and logged over 500 miles on this pair of shoes. Bought a pair of your custom fit inserts and I can' t tell the difference from when they were brand new. So, I decided to expand my horizons and purchased a pair of Pulsates. Are you kidding me, these are great. Where have you people been all my life. You have a customer for life. Your shoes fit well. Size is as expected. The shoes wear exceeds anything I have ever owned. The ventilators are very comfortable in hot weather and the Pulsates are more comfortable than any shoe I have ever owned. There aren't enough folks around for me to tell how good these shoes are.

The Pulsate is absolutely the most comfortable work shoe/light boot I've ever worn. I'm on my feet almost all of the day and feel no fatigue whatsoever. Plenty of cushion and very durable. I highly recommend this shoe for anyone looking for support and durability while walking, hiking, or light trail running. Love it!!!
