They are just as they appear in the picture. The shipping was fast. They are comfortable and very warm. They were a replacement for another pair of Merrell boots that I had and simply loved! Can't beat them!

the boot is absolutely beautiful, but there is one MAJOR problem in the design, which is the tongue of the boot. It is not attached to the body of the boot as it ascends your ankle/leg, and can therefore let in moisture. The reason I want a waterproof boot is so that my feel don't get wet, and with this design, there's no guarantee that they won't get wet. I can literally poke my finger through the side of the tongue and touch anywhere along my ankle and leg. If I can do that, certainly snow and water puddles will seep through along the tongue as well

Merrell's Reply:

Thank you for your feedback on the Women's Decora Prelude Waterproof boot. The tongue is bellowed up to slightly above ankle height. You may want to check out our Women's Decora Chant Waterproof or the Women's Dewbrook Zip Waterproof for waterproofing all the way up the height of the boot.

These boots are great - I've worn them two days in a row and have gotten a ton of compliments. They are also very comfortable - the leather is soft and they are comfortable to walk in without any break in period. I do not understand the complaints about the tongue not being attached to the boot and snow getting into the boot. Unless you are planning on walking in snow as deep as your mid-calf its just not an issue. I hiked around in 8" of snow yesterday during a work site visit for about an hour, my feet stayed dry and warm and no snow ended up in my boot - plus I still managed to look fashionable.

I could wear these everyday if it was okay. So comfortable with the cushiony insole. I work in a shoe store where we sell the Decoras and I recommend them to everyone...and everyone loves them too! If you're on the fence on getting them... just buy them! I love the falcon color because you can wear them with black, grey, or brown and they still look good Size wise: I am usually a 6.5 and I got that size and still have wiggle room, but that's what I wanted. So size was perfect... some customers go down a half size for a snugger fit. I also have large calves for my little feet, so I absolutely love the fact that you can adjust them with the laces, yet slip them on with the zipper...sometimes I don't even need the zipper! Just a note: heel slippage is normal and doesn't equal blisters...too small equals blisters. With the level of insulation: a little sweaty at work for 8 hrs., but perfect for outside mostly and indoors for a while.

I loved and praised this boot for half of last winter, until the zipper unraveled and left me back in my old worn out, packed down winter boots for the remainder of the season, while I sent these ones out for repair. These boots are warm, dry, and super comfortable. Somehow the heel cuff in these is low profile enough that they don't bite my ankles, which is my biggest downfall with two other boots which I've bought in the past few years from Merrell. You see, if I'm understanding correctly, they use the same structural heel cuff for both small and large feet in the other Merrill boots (the only difference in size being the length of the foot bed; ankle structure being the same sized parts for all the foot sizes. This in other Merrell boots has not accommodated for the fact that my little feet have ankles that are closer to the floor/foot bed than a larger foot. It's taken me awhile and a few pairs of boots to figure this out, that the heel cuff isn't made smaller/shorter for a smaller foot. Magically, my ankles in these size 7 boots actually float comfortably above the heel cuff that is so unforgiving in other boots of the same size. So if you have small feet whose ankles tend to get battered by the same heel cuff ankle biting dilemma, these might actually be the boot for you. At any rate, having my zipper unravel half way through the season last year left me wondering if a higher quality zipper may be in order. It was a $40 fix for one zipper, and I can see that the zipper on the other foot isn't going to last forever, either. It's on it's way out, too, showing signs of doing the same thing, threads unraveling from the plastic zipper coils. Hopefully the zipper on the second boot makes it all the way through this winter, because my old boots are super funky, and no longer warm. I'm only keeping my old boots around at this point for the impending doom of the second zipper on these boots. The threads containing the coils of the zipper blew out right where my ankle wore a bump/wrinkle in that part of the boot, although the rest of the boot still looks brand new. Perhaps my ankle hits it in the wrong place, because it's not like all the bigger ankles that hit a little higher, and maybe my ankles are just wearing the zippers in an unexpected way, because my ankles are too close to the bottoms of my feet, unlike a 'normal' or bigger person's ankles that might hit a little higher on the zipper. I don't know, they look to be built well. Apparently my dainty little ankles are the boot zipper bomb. If it weren't for the zipper blow out, I would give this boot 5 stars for warmth, dryness, comfort, and good looks.
