I mostly use backpacks for my photography for NatGeo and other magazines. This one is near perfect. Backpacks that are actually designed for photography are totally useless for me. Always too heavy!! I can slip any one of a number of camera bag inserts into this backpack or if I am using a small camera , I simply use the laptop sleeve. Works. So it is light and slim and unobtrusive. All great features for me. Plus I am tall and hardly anyone makes a backpack long enough for my back. So this is it. Good work

I've been on the hunt for a good "urban" bag for a long time now and after a number of misses, this little pack seems like a solid success. Lots of great details for commuting like a stow-away hip belt, light attachments and a trim profile. Haven't tried the slots for the bike lock yet–its solid winter right now on the east coast and the bike riding is on hold for the meantime. But as a general go-about town pack its really dialed in to what one needs. Slim pack isn't bulky on crowded trains, but the lid expands to hold a surprising amount of stuff, plus the cut is slightly tapered to the bottom so you can fit more in as you go up. Tech-friendly slots inside hold all your gadgetry with easy access. Super-comfy straps for a solid carry even with a good deal of weight and weather-proofing seems quite good so far–might not hold up to the PNW, but been out for a few hours in heavy, wet snow and nothing soaked through. Kudos on the fabric–classy looking but still has an outdoor vibe–something Merrell does quite well. My only complaints: 1. Stacked pocket syndrome–front pockets occupy the same volume in the design, so if you fill the zip pocket, the other is essentially useless (also could use one small zip pocket inside the pack, as the bottom pocket outside is open to the elements) and 2. (minor and easily added later) it needs velcro on the pack body/lid for a quick closure option, as the buckles are a little fiddly when the pack is stuffed.
