I'm not hiker or a climber, but a hard working carpenter who needs good support from his shoes. For support, ventalators are ok. All out rage are better than ventalators, but camelions are better than both.

The reason I loved the Chameleon hiking shoe was because it had no tongue, no laces and you could slip it on and off and go. I guess with the Chameleon 5 no more ... Like every company seems to be doing these days, Merrell has taken the perfect design and ruined for absolutely no reason. Unless the Chameleon changes back to the original no tongue/lace slip-on design that made it so great, I won't be purchasing any more of these shoes.

Merrell's Reply:

Thank you for this review. The style you are looking for is our Chameleon 4 Stretch which we still have available. The Stretch has the bungee lacing system and no tongue making them easy to slip on and go.

These shoes are excellent. My feet do not hurt when I wear them like many other shoes.
