First off these shoes are amazing. I had been looking for a minimalist shoe for awhile now but was scared away by prices or by the fact that in the reviews people said they fell apart easily. Then I came across these Vapor Gloves and they were an answer to my prayers. It has a wide toe box and really gives your feet a lot of room to splay out. The rubber sole gives you just enough protection but still allows you to feel the texture of the ground beneath your feet. They are very durable. I've already run about 15-20 miles in them and I don't see any wear and tear. They also don't take up alot of space in your bag you can literally roll them into a ball and stick them in your bag. Plus they weigh about 4 ounces. I would definitely recommend them to someone seeing as they are well put together and feel like they will last for a long time and for the price of 80 bucks you really can't go wrong. I will definitely be coming back to these again. Now if only they offered them in different colors.

These shoes are everything I could ask for in a minimalist shoe. The are incredibly light. I can feel the nuances of the ground beneath my feet more than most shoes allow. The toe box is nice and wide allowing my toes to splay properly. The material breathes well giving a great feel as I wear these biking often and can feel the breeze come through. All-in-all very happy with my purchase. This is my second pair of Merrells, the first being the tough glove, and I have to give them credit for a quality durable product. I beat their shoes up and they endure it well. I've tried shoes from other companies and while the initial feel may be comparable at times they don't quite age as well as my Merrells.

Thank you for putting these shoes to the test of durability! We are so thrilled they are able to keep up and still show little wear.

If you are reading these reviews, then you either have interest or experience in minimalist foot wear. This is a review for the Vapor Glove, but also for Merrell's other shoes I've experienced. All of this, in as few words as possible: I started with the first iteration of the Trail Glove, back in 2010/2011. I used that shoe to run the Tough Mudder in Vermont in May 2011. They were fantastic. That shoe had a "rock plate" in the mid-sole and that is my only gripe with that shoe. Merrell has a newer version and I am guessing the sole feels better. I subsequently bought a first generation Road Glove, which I still run in for my outside runs. No socks, no tied laces -- this shoe is great. The Vapor Glove was meant as a replacement for my VivoBarefoot Evos (now discontinued) that I've owned for many, many years. The Vapor Glove is my training, indoor running, tire flipping, everything but distance running (thus far) shoe. So far, this shoe is ideal. Good toe box for foot spread, good fit around arch, holds well with no laces tied in plyometric training, as well as for some Olympic Lifting (I don't like Olympic Lifting shoes). This shoe is as minimal as they come, with no resistance in movement and great access to ventilation. Another sockless shoe, if you can handle that feeling. As many reviewers have mentioned, this particular shoe DOES run a half-size larger than usual. For example, my Trail Glove and Road Glove were 44. I could have bought a 43 for the Vapor Glove. However, if you have ever been on the fence about upsizing from a 10 to a 10.5 (U.S. sizing), suspecting that perhaps a 10.5 might be more ideal for your outside toe, but too scared to possibly deal with returns -- then don't size down for the Vapor Glove. While my feet "look" a bit more clown-like (to me), I find the slightly larger size allows for a better foot/toe spread and this results in a lot less rubbing of my toe on the outside of the shoe. Even with the "extra" space, I still don't tie the shoes and they have been great during lateral jumping exercises.

Thank you for this very detailed and valuable review. We also recommend sizing down in this particular style, too. This is as minimalist as it can almost get! Our Vapor Glove is basically only a protected covering for your feet while out on the road or in the gym.

  • Best Minimalist Shoes Out There

Best minimalist shoe on the market. Great ground feel, roomy toebox, zero drop, no (or very little) cushioning, flexible -- everything you want in a minimalist shoe, and (thankfully) nothing more. These shoes let your feet do what they're supposed to do, without having to worry about thorns, etc. Perfect shoes for when running barefoot isn't practical.

Merrell's Reply:

We are so thrilled to hear you found your perfect shoe! Just like you stated these are merely just a protected covering for your feet. Now, get out there and hit the road running!

  • Vapor Glove is my ALL TIME FAVORITE shoe!!

These are sized a half size large - so for me, normally in 10.5, 10 was what I needed for the Vapor Glove. These shoes are comfortable like moccasins with a thin even layer of quality Vibram rubber underneath. Without socks, they soon mold to your feet like a high-tech-composit layer of skin. I love to run barefoot without any shoes, but when weather or conditions present themselves, these shoes go on. Vapor Gloves are the best shoes I've found that allow me to maintain a barefoot running style. Also, they're very stylish and sleek for non-atheltic applications. These are my favorite shoes - at the very top of the list, and I've bought and experimented with about 15 different "barefoot" shoes.

The search is over and you have found the ones! Thank you for sharing your love for these and your helpful tip on sizing. We do agree that these are running about a half size large, so GO DOWN A HALF SIZE when ordering. Keep up the great work and style!
