OK to be honest, the 1st pair of Merrell shoes I bought were the Refuge Core, and found them to be an outstanding all around shoe from the time I put them on at REI in Denver. I purchased this product for work (where I am on my feet most of the day) & play (my wife and I are recreational campers & I am a lsa pilot); only to discover they were absolutely wonderful for all situations. Upon finding that the Refuge was no longer avialable, I purchased the Phonenix Trek with quite a bit of hesistation only to be very satisfied that they are equal if not better than the Refuge! I am an older fellow and have gained a "few" pounds over the years, and I highy praise the Phoenix Trek for comfort........Simply a quality product....I found the Wide Width to be the key for myself!!!!

Purchased to replace tennis shoes in Africa's harsh environment. Soles handle the lava rocks and abrasive trails. Little thicker than I would normally use in 115 degree weather but the environment demands it. All in all great product, will purchase again if needed, and have already recommended to others.
