Up to two months ago I've been running in the Merrell Pace Glove. For the past year I have enjoyed the barefoot running style both on the sidewalk and on the treadmill (and largely without plantar fasciitis pain). I love how lightweight the Pace Gloves are and the rounded toe box to accommodate the unusual shape of my foot (no other shoe I've found has a rounded toe box like it). I also didn't need a wide for my borderline medium to wide foot. However, when my mileage crept up to 50 miles/wk I started to get some heel pain (I don't know the cause)and switched to the Arc since it appeared to have the same shape of toe box as the Pace Gloves but with a little cushion and 0mm drop. The Arc seems to be more narrow than the Pace Glove (probably similar to other shoe brands), so to make it work for me I reworked the laces and didn't use the first holes closest to the toe box. Perfect! I wore them for my first trail 50 mile race and my feet were very happy! These shoes are great for someone who believes in a minimalist style of running but feels the Pace Glove is too extreme for them.
