I tried the Phoenix ventilator shortly after I got out of my cast from major ankle surgery. They fit perfectly, the size was spit on. It felt like a very comfortable glove enclosing my foot, and my opposite foot, which had developed plantar fasciitis, was virtually pain free thanks to the air cushion heel. The sole grips like glue, so I can actually go up and down stairs with reduced effort. I'm grateful for the people at Boot World who showed the Phoenix to me.

Merrell's Reply:

We are so glad the people at Boot World showed you these shoes too! That is awesome you were able to find your perfect fit and making walking after surgery a bit easier. Thank you for your inspirational review.

These are my first pair of Merrells, although I do have a pair of Wolverine boots. With warm weather ahead, I was looking for something lightweight, breathable, and with good traction for the wet days. They fit true to size, and are very comfortable out of the box (I usually have to add an insert). Traction feels excellent. I can definitely recommend the Phoenix Ventilator based on initial impressions. Longevity remains to be seen. The reviews here were helpful in choosing which style to get, so I'm paying that back in kind.

Merrell's Reply:

We are so glad you were impressed right from the start with your first pair of Merrell's! Make sure to keep us updated on how they do this summer for your adventures. This specific shoe is not going to be waterproof for the wet days, but we do offer this style in a waterproof option.

Incredibly comfortable shoes! I work on my feet 10-11 hrs. a day doing assembly work and these are the 3rd pair of Merrel's I've owned; I won't buy any other brand!

I needed some hiking shoes that were lighter weight than my boots for everyday use and was pleased to find these. I already had some Merrell Moab hiking boots so was not surprised to find these to be affordably priced, sturdy and comfortable to wear as soon as I put them on. I fully expect them to wear well and give me the support I need.

Merrell's Reply:

We are glad you found a style that satisfies both the pocketbook and your feet. We are happy you have found them to be comfortable and support. We really appreciate the feedback.

I'm very pleased with my Phoenix Ventilators. I bought them to add to my work-day rotation of two pairs of Moab Ventilators and one of Waterproof Moab Ventilators (giving the shoes a day or two between wearings ensures they stay fresh all day). Also, I was curious what Merrell would do with the concept. Phoenix Ventilator is comfortable for sure, very supple. There is less shoe than with the Moab, which itself is no heavyweight, with what seems to be a little less lateral support. I am also interested to see how the house brand soles hold up. I would not go technical with Phoenix, but they are great for knocking around the park or chatting it up at the office. In fact, black, which I have, is kind of stylish, with subtle grey accents. The size at 9 1/2 D was right on. Glad I bought them.

Merrell's Reply:

Great! Thanks for the review of this style and we are happy they are proving to be comfortable and lightweight. It sounds like they fit well into your rotation of Merrells!
