I started looking at Merrell shoes for gym since I was not happy with my bulky runners from Asics. Never had minimalistic shoes but thought I would give it a try. Have to say I will never go back. Best shoes I have ever had. I use them not just in the gym but in daily matters aswell. Even have em on for walking since that are so snugged fitted on feet. Have had some challenges adjusting with pain in calvs so you need to consider not overdoing it in the beginning. I think this is a perfect shoe if you like to hit heavy dead lifts and squats aswell as running shorter distances on the tredmill.
Merrell's Reply:
Switching into a minimalist shoe people do notice a difference, especially in the calves. The 0mm drop with your feet will work different muscles than people are used to. We are so thrilled the sore calves did not stop you from falling in love with our Barefoots.

I've had these for maybe 8 months now and probably put close to 600 miles on them. The Vibram sole has taken a beating but still looks great! These are great for running, lifting, crossfit, etc. The extra webbing on the sides provides support for side to side movements also. The only flaw I have found is the foam (grey area on picture above on the sole)has started to crease from rope climbs and sprints.
The military won't let us wear Vibram 5 fingers but these are a great alternative that I would highly recommend.

Thank you for the high recommendation and putting over 600 miles on your Train Flux Glove Sport. We are so glad the Vibram soles are able to keep up with all of your running, lifting, crossfit, and other workouts. Keep up the great work!

I love these shoes, I can't find much wrong with them other that when I put them on some times, I'll get a pinch at the back of my heel. But it'll go away after I walk about 100 ft. For the rest of the day, or run. They feel perfect. I love the feeling of running barefoot!

If you liked the Road Glove 1, you will like this shoe. It's a great, slightly more affordable alternative. I use it mainly for road running, but it works well on non-technical trails and in the gym. I prefer the upper on the Road Glove 1 (in which I run sockless), but this shoe works will with lightweight performance socks, so I had an excess to pick up a pair of Merrell Sonics to match with it. For those who are not impressed with the Road Glove 2, keep the Flux Glove Sport in mind. I said it was sized as expected, but that's only because I have six pairs of Merrell shoes, and I "expected" it to fit 1/2 size large. I am a 9.5 in most running shoes, but I wear a 9 in the Merrell BF line (except for the Vapor Gloves, in which I need an 8.5).

Thank you for the helpful tips on sizing for our Barefoot line. We appreciate your input on comparing these Flux Glove Sports to the Road Glove 1. The Sonic socks are a great solution for a thin, lightweight sock to wear with these Barefoots.

These were a replacement to my trail gloves which I just didn't get into. Maybe it was timing. I'm trail running in these Flux Gloves about 3-4 times a week and they are great. I'm just restarting and getting used to these - so 2 miles per run on gravel, dirt, etc. I can feel my feet and legs getting worked. The shoes are very comfortable, my feet don't sweat in them too much, and I often wear them around after my run. They have a nice amount of cush and a great soul. I'll be using these everyday soon working my way back up to 5-7 miles per day. Also bought a pair of the Mix Master 2, and they were very comfortable out of the box, true size, etc. I plan to use these while I'm out and about - not really for my trail running because I am really liking the barefoot shoe action. Merrell products have really kicked it up a notch - awesome products!

We are so thrilled how much you are loving our products especially our Barefoot line. These are a great Barefoot that provide an awesome connection to the ground or trail you are running on. Transitioning into the Barefoot styles does take a little time to get used and most notice a difference in their calves and feet as you stated.
