I am a student and these boots are great going to and from class in the Minnesota winter. My feet still get a little cold since it is a lower profile boot. They are very nice to slip on when out and about. I wanted these boots so that I had less bulky/tall boots and they work just fine to fit what I wanted.

These are very comfortable boots. I love the fleece lining. However, I wish there was another hook on the ankle. I have trouble getting the ankles tight enough.

I ordered these boots for snowshoeing in Yellowstone at Christmastime. Obviously I had sub-zero temps in mind when determining what boots to buy and I have always loved Merrell's construction. I also have very large ankles and am forever looking for boots that won't cut into either my achilles tendon or bind around or above the ankles. These are low cut and there is no discomfort where the ankles are concerned. I first ordered my usual Merrell size of 8.5, but as comfy as these boots were, I realized that there would be no possibility of wearing mid-weight socks with them. So I went up a half size and ordered 9. I can now JUST get a pair of silk sock liners and mid-weight wool blend socks into these boots and still wiggle my toes. I was never able to find out to what temp these boots are rated, but all the thermo technology is well-done and well worth the money. These boots are very warm and very supportive for winter hiking; while snowshoeing at 10,000 feet in NM, my toes got slightly chilled because snow does tend to pile onto your toes. Unfortunately there wasn't enough snow in Yellowstone (!!) to snowshoe, but there's plenty on our mountains here in NM. I would recommend going up a full size rather than a half size. This would probably allow space for two pairs of wool blend socks for those very VERY cold temps - or it would allow insertion of toe warmers.

Thanks for your helpful comments. I am happy to hear they kept you comfortable in your great snowshoe adventures in NM. Hopefully we can look forward to more snow in Yellowstone later this year.
