I've had these about a month and they are one of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. The waterproof feature is working well so far, although I haven't spent the whole day walking through snow or wet grass. It's very cold here and my feet stay good and warm, but I wonder how they will be in the heat of the summer. I may purchase low cut Moab Ventilators. I had to purchase a half a size larger than I normally wear so it's best to go to a retail store and try different sizes before you buy. This seems to occur a lot with Merrell boots. Bottom line: So far I'm very pleased with these boots, but will update this review when the waterproofing is tested more harshly.

Thanks for the update so far. We are glad you are enjoying the boots and the comfortable fit. The low Moab Ventilators are very breathable and would be a great option for the summer months. We would love for you to check in again with another update!

I received these as a replacement for a defective pair I returned at the end of 2011 after only six month's of use. I received these a month ago, and one of the shoe lace eyes has ripped out. It appears that a durable, quality product is not on Merrell's list of company goals. I appreciate that their customer service team did send out a free replacement pair for the previous units, but after this second pair has failed, I need to look for a brand of shoe that will last me more than a few months. Live and learn.

I bought these planning on wearing them through the summer i do quite a lot of day hiking But I'm afraid they may be much to warm for mid summer wearing! So I picked up a pair of Moab ventilators ankle highs for summer and I will use the Moab-Mids for winter and fall! With all of that said they are the most comfy pair of shoes/boots I own! and the ankle high ventilators are even better!! minimal break in time very nice right out of the box. I normally wear a size 9 shoe but these appear to run on the small size...I got size 10 in both and they fit perfect!! Add in a nice pair of hiking socks and they cant be beat! Very HAPPY!!!!

Merrell's Reply:

We are so glad you were able to find that perfect fit and thank you for the hint on sizing. The waterproof styles do have an extra waterproofing membrane in them making them a little warmer compared to our regular ventilated styles. Thank you so much for your feedback and keep us posted on your summer hikes.

  • Best shoe ever

First things first. Merrell customer service is awesome!! I tried on a pair of the non water proof version and let me just say that there is a huge difference in feel and fit. The non water proof felt a bit cheap and just didn't feel right. I tried on the water proof Mid and I was sold on my first step. The extra water proofing mesh gives the shoe a very nice cozy fit. It makes the shoe feel more substantial and makes the shoe feel much softer when walking. Shoe breathes very well. The weight is perfect. I use my shoes for everyday use from cleaning the yard, mountain bike riding, etc, etc. The $20 price difference is so worth it. In summary, I bought 3 pairs in total.
