These shoes were recommended to me by your excellent customer support staff for the Tough Mudder event, and let me tell you, they were a HIT!!!!! These shoes stayed on tight for the whole 12 miles of thick mud and water and 26 military-style obstacles. Their ability to drain water and mud was phenomenal! I did not end up with one single blister! Their traction is so good, that when I scaled the 18-foot muddy, oiled wall, these shoes grabbed right on and I made it to the top in one long stride! My wife and I own 7 different Merrell shoes between us, and once again, these shoes performed as top-notched as expected!!!!

I bought these as an alternative to having a pair of water shoes and hiking shoes when I'm hiking. I realized that after wearing them that they were rubbing my pinky toes raw and hurt my soles because the lack of cushioning. If you just need a pair of $90 beach or dock shoes these are great and look fantastic, but don't plan on being able to wear these for a long time with a 30 pound pack on your back.

Just the right use: Owned for a couple years, used on several boating and hiking trips on and around lakes and rivers. (Mead/Powell/Havasu) Just the right fit: good sized toe box, lets the toes comfortably spread out yet hugs the foot enough to where it doesn’t feel bulky. Nice and secure. Won’t slip off getting in and out of the water. Just the right protection: toes much better protected than any open toed sandals. Sole is just thin enough so that you can feel the terrain yet just thick enough to protect your foot from any sharp objects. Just the right amount of traction: non-marking sole for keeping the boat neat and tidy and great traction for rock scrambling. Just the right amount of ventilation: well ventilated for quick dry from water or sweaty feet. Just the right weight: light weight yet doesn’t feel flimsy. Just the right durability: I haven’t broken them yet, that’s a good sign… Just the right look: looks good at the docks, looks good on the trail. Just right

Got a pair of these to take to the Big Island of Hawai'i where we were planning a few 4 - 5 mile hikes across pretty rough terrain. The soles held up on rough lava very well, and maintained decent grip during a rainy trek across smoother lava. My only issue was that there was one spot inside the right shoe that was rubbing a little on the base of my little toe for the first couple days. During the rainy crater hike that problem went away completely. My recommendation is to break them in wet before putting a lot of miles on so they've had a chance to conform to your foot.

Exciting to know your Merrell's got to hike all around the Big Island of Hawaii with you! Thank you for your feedback on breaking them in first to allow them to conform to your foot. We appreciate your input.

This shoe was insanely useful! I walked 155 miles in it over mountains and rocky trails and the soles are still in amazing condition! They drained quickly and fit comfortably whether wet or dry. These have definitely been the best shoes that I have ever owned and I am buying a second pair as soon as I can!
