I love the Merrell shoes that I have, but the support inserts were worn and not functioning well. I called Merrell support and was advised which inserts to order. They were even nice enough to send me a pair to try. They worked great, so I ordered three more pair. Thanks Merrell!,

  • Good, but wish they weren't necessary

So, the good news is, at least Merrell is still selling these. I have found them very necessary, as the quality of Merrell's default footbed has gone down significantly in the last two years or so. Back when they were producing a significant number of shoes with the Q-form footbed, I only had to buy one pair of these, for a footbed that truly got worn out. Now, I've had to use them immediately in brand new shoes as the new footbeds are heavier, the padding is useless, and the arches often feel like they are in crooked. These don't have quite the same amount of arch support as the original Q-Form footbeds, but they're better than crooked arches, and certainly more padded despite being light. Is this a ploy by Merrell to get an extra $10 out of you? Don't know, but I really wish they would go back to putting decent footbeds in their shoes, rather than make you buy them separately.

Merrell's Reply:

No ploy at all, we do use the OrthoLite® Comfort Foam Insoles in many of our hikers and after sport styles. The durability of our footwear means the insoles may wear down before the hikers and by adding a new pair of insoles, it will feel like a brand new shoe!

Was the perfect replacement for one that came with the shoes. It was getting too worn out and did not want to throw them out since they are my favorite. Now they are almost as new. Fit perfect.

I need to replace insoles tht were worn through. I had the shoes for a few seasons but they were still very serviceable. For $10.00 dollares I get to wear the shoes a few more seasons. Well worth the investment.

My feet are almost 1/2 size different from each other, so I often have one shoe that is either too tight or too loose. I recently bought a pair of Moab Ventilators and decided to try the triple-density insole in the looser shoe. It works! Now I have a great-fitting pair of shoes for both feet. My shoes are 8 1/2, and the size 8 insole was perfect.
