These are by far my favorite pair of hiking shoes. I am ashamed to admit that I like these hikers so much that I also use them for daily wear and bike riding. They handle rough desert terrain very well and handle rocks and sand with ease. They are; easy on your feet, air dry well when wet, fit properly, provide great arch support, and best of all come in wide sizes. So far so good. I recommend these shoes to those who hike in the desert southwest.

I live in Northern Arizona and we have many hiking trails that espouse all types of terrain. We have sandy, loamy, loose, hardpack, rock, and even the occasional creek crossing. Because of this it is difficult to find a boot that will keep your feet cool yet put up with the abuse of the terrain while remaining durable at the same time. Merrell has done this with this boot and I hope they continue to do so for a very long time. It will be a mainstay in my closet that frequents with me for many trips into the future as long as they make it.

People look for many different qualities in a boot. Only one realy matters to me, COMFORT! First let me say I am 54, 6'4" about 205lbs.It is very hard for me to find a comfortable boot...until now.These boots are great right out of the box.I take a wide, and that limits my selection with other brands.The fit of the Moab Mid Ventilator is great, no rubing on any part of my foot no matter what I am doing.I also like the style and color, not flashy.I will be sticking with Merrell boots from now on.

I will give these five stars now ... but ... only after an ordeal of getting a pair to fit. Based upon my experience, the quality-control over the sizing is not great. But, again, I FINALLY managed to get a pair that fits, and they are just what I wanted for my long, 3 1/2 travel-trip, which starts this evening. The drop-down menu, below, only provides three options. I say the "all-over-the-place option is missing.

I used this boots to conduct patrols in different types of terrain in the hill of Afghanistan and if this boots are good here they are good everywhere.
