I love love love these boots! I'm on my second pair. I use them in the winter for "walking" the dogs - which is really 45-60 partially paved, mostly woods. Thing is I never take them off, so I've worn my first pair out. Actually they seem fine but estimating it's time based on mileage. My feet are always happy warm and dry. I'm so happy to find out that there's a ventilator version, I'll be buying them in a month or so. I have a pair of the Moab ventilator and don't love them as much (ball of the foot pain) but now I know the Siren exists for summer - woohoo! BTW I also love my Merrell casual shoes that I use for travel, I've walked all over many cobbled European streets with no foot fatigue. Thanks.

I wear these boots for work. I walk at least 5-7 miles during my 12 hour shift and I needed shoes/boots that would hold up. The tread is great and after a 6 month break in period, I can wear them two days in a row. Why? Because they are a bit narrow for my feet. I still like them but I wish they came in a wide size. I will be using them to hike in over the summer and fall months. Do these come in a wide size? (PLEASE say yes!)

Merrell's Reply:

I am sorry, but this style does not come in a wide specific. However, we do have a way to get a better fit out of that boot, and we will be contacting you very soon.

This is my first pair of Merrell's-won't be my last! Purchased for an upcoming trip to Yellowstone & the Rockies - have been trying them out for the last two weeks--from the first time I put them on my feet have been happy. I normally wear New Balance, which always fit well, bought these in my regular size 8 and they fit like a glove. Not too heavy, which is important to me, and the collar does not chafe my ankles-great shoe--will buy another pair soon just to have a spare.

So glad I found these boots. Other hiking boots did not feel comfortable - my heel would go up and down and arch was not supported. With these boots - my heel stays put and my arch feels supported - like they were made for my foot. I have neuropathy and arthritis and a walk is not enjoyable if my feet are not feeling good. Another very important feature is - I feel sure-footed and grip all surfaces. I have been looking for these for a couple of years - since I got my newest dog ! Now I can go on any surface - wet leaves, rocks, gravel, mud, ice snow, pavement - no problem. The only thing I can thing to improve them, is more shock absorbency. I was thinking of putting in a sport insole, but decided I didn't want to change the ortholite that is working for keeping my foot from moving back and forth which causes severe pain and inflammation. So I am very happy ! I also have the ventilated blue ones, but the wind and rain goes right thru, so I am saving them for hot weather. They feel absolutely great.

  • Great for serious hiking or extra support during icy winter

When I first wore these boots I was in the Andes of Peru heading to a base camp at 13,000 feet. We had a late start in the day and the elevation was taking its toll on us, so we ended up hiking the last hour in the dark. It was wet and muddy and my body was exhausted from altitude sickness, but the shoes kept their grip, kept my feet warm, and of all the things I was worried about my feet weren't one of them. Back in the US my town just received one of the worst snow and ice storms in it's history. I wore these boots everywhere as I ran errands and walked around town, and I felt secure from slipping and comfortable walking for the majority of the day. I think they're a great shoe and I'm happy to have them for whatever trekking--mountains or sidewalk-- I have to do.

Merrell's Reply:

We are so glad with these boots on, it is one less thing you have to worry about! Good thing you had then for this cold winter we are all having. It makes you want to get out side and hit the hikes.
