I wore the Moab Ventilator Mid in Fallujah, Iraq for 6-months during spring and summer. The temperature was almost 125-degrees on the hottest days. The Moabs kept my feet dry from perspiration and performed well on all types of terrain including gravel, sand and asphalt. I also use them for working out at the gym, including walking on the treadmill! I'm returning to Iraq or Afghanistan within the next 60-days and I have ordered another pair of the Moab Ventilator Mid, because Merrell recommends them for both hot and cold climates. I give the Moab a 5-star rating for use in extremely hot & dry weather (if I deploy to Afghanistan and they also perform well in cold & wet weather, I'll give them a 6-star rating).

I agree with previous comments but I have a con; when wet this shoes are as if you have a bar of soap on each foot

I bought a pair of Moab Mid and after wearing them for a few months on this rough terrain here in Afghanistan, the sole on both boots gave up on me. I contacted Merrell and was really impressed by the way they treat their costumers. After a couple of e-mails between me and the costumer service rep, they took care of my issue and I receive a new pair of boots without any hassle. I highly recommend them and they have won a costumer for years to come.

My Jack Russlell and I hike all over the Southern Utah desert. Rocks, sand, brush, creeks and rivers. Up to 10 mile hikes in hot temps in the summer and much cooler temps in the winter. Climping talace slopes and slippery wet rocks, deep sand etc. I can say how pleased i am with these shoes. The best long lasting gripping shoes ever. I bought a pair of Proterra's and jsut can't likiem them like I love these hiking shoes. I can not emphasize how wonderful these boots are. I carry packs, dogs, and myself in these shoes and am as sure footed as my 4runner and Jeep. Seriousl these boots arer amazing. It is finally time to replace them after hundreds of miles of hiking. they are still in great shape and am using them just starting to tear and why wait till they fall off my feet. My proterra's will never get used for hiking as long as these exist. I love them...thank you Merrell. FYI I have tried others but no comparison...plus these arte afforadable. Sometimes all the stars line up and good stuff happens...these shoes are an example of just such a thing!

This is by far the best boot you will find for the $. Great value! I have owned my pair for 2 years. I wear them to work everyday in a construction setting. 40-60hrs a week for 2 years and they are just now beginning to break down a bit. Im actually here to shop for another pair. Great job MERRELL on a great boot! You have a very happy customer. Maybe you fine folks at MERRELL could construct a true work boot? If so, I'd be first in line. Just an idea
