I wore the Moab Ventilator Mid in Fallujah, Iraq for 6-months during spring and summer. The temperature was almost 125-degrees on the hottest days. The Moabs kept my feet dry from perspiration and performed well on all types of terrain including gravel, sand and asphalt. I also use them for working out at the gym, including walking on the treadmill! I'm returning to Iraq or Afghanistan within the next 60-days and I have ordered another pair of the Moab Ventilator Mid, because Merrell recommends them for both hot and cold climates. I give the Moab a 5-star rating for use in extremely hot & dry weather (if I deploy to Afghanistan and they also perform well in cold & wet weather, I'll give them a 6-star rating).

I agree with previous comments but I have a con; when wet this shoes are as if you have a bar of soap on each foot

Late Oct this year my wife & I went to the Grand Canyon to fulfill a dream of hiking rim to river & getting a Phantom Ranch reservation. We hiked in via the South Kaibab trail & out via the Bright Angel. We both have Merrell Moab boots. I had to purchase a pair of boots a week before our departure due to the ones I had at home having the soles come apart. With no break-in period & with some anxiety , I took the new Moab boots right out of the box & completed both legs of our rim to river hiking adventure. They worked terrific with no foot or toe issues at all. They held up to the rigors of the trail with support & comfort that I did not expect. I could not have been more pleased as to the performance of the boots. The Merrell Moab was a hiking success for the both of us. Thank You !!!

These are without a doubt the most comfortable footwear that I have ever owned. I have one pair of ventilators for casual wear, and one for working and hiking in the spring/summer/fall. They keep my feet cool and comfortable. I have given my work pair heavy use for a year and a half, and they appear to be wearing well. I bought my fiancée a pair as well, and she agrees as to their comfort. (They had a visible flaw in the stitching, the only minus)

It's difficult for me to find comfortable shoes due to ongoing issues with plantar fasciitis. I am so glad I purchased these boots. I wear them to work every day, where I spend a lot of time on my feet. From standing on concrete floors to working outdoors in hot sandy conditions to climbing towers, these boots do it all and keep my feet comfortable. The ventilators also do a great job keeping my feet dry in the heat of Florida summers. Ordering my second pair right now.
