I wore the Moab Ventilator Mid in Fallujah, Iraq for 6-months during spring and summer. The temperature was almost 125-degrees on the hottest days. The Moabs kept my feet dry from perspiration and performed well on all types of terrain including gravel, sand and asphalt. I also use them for working out at the gym, including walking on the treadmill! I'm returning to Iraq or Afghanistan within the next 60-days and I have ordered another pair of the Moab Ventilator Mid, because Merrell recommends them for both hot and cold climates. I give the Moab a 5-star rating for use in extremely hot & dry weather (if I deploy to Afghanistan and they also perform well in cold & wet weather, I'll give them a 6-star rating).

I agree with previous comments but I have a con; when wet this shoes are as if you have a bar of soap on each foot

We do a lot of hiking in Florida so we needed a boot that was lightweight and breathable. After researching online, we decided on this boot and we weren't disappointed. Everything about the boot is exactly as we expected. We've been breaking them in locally before using them on the trail and they are quite comfortable. Can't wait to use them when we go hiking in the Ocala National Forest in a couple of weeks.

I have had these boots for a month and have put over 75 miles on them while carrying a 30-40 lbs in my backpack. They are super comfortable and don't need any breaking in. I just hiked 7 days in the rain (wet shoes and socks)and did not get any blisters, and did not have any water sloshing around inside. I have hiked on all different terrain, mud, granite, smashed up rock trails, snow, and across glaciers (Do not have any traction on snow and glaciers.) They are still in great shape, some people say they could feel rocks jabbing through at times, I don't disagree, but it is minimal at most at times and a none issue. However they are not waterproof at all, I sprayed they with waterproofing when I got them( I know it doesn't make them water proof.) Anyways, my socks would get wet just from walking through wet shrubs, this wouldn't have been an issue but the sun rarely came out to dry my boots. However when the sun did come out they would dry fairly quickly. I do wish I could tie them a little tighter at times(might just be user error.)

these are the best hiking boots I have ever worn. I do have to get the triple density insole to go with them, becaue I need the extra cushion. I wear them 7 days a week and all year round. they do tend to break down after about 6 months for me. I am going to try the taller version and see if that helps. I have back problems and they provide the support and stability that I need.
