Stylish all-terrain waterproof boot that won't break the bank Bought these babies for a summer trip to Iceland with my girlfriend. I was mainly looking for an affordable pair of waterproof boots that could handle a variety of terrains in style, and they definitely delivered! I used these on lava rocks and gravel, slick stones under waterfalls, muddy trails, and even a glacier (with crampons). I really feel like they could handle just about anything except maybe straight-up ice, despite the name. Waterproofing was awesome. I accidentally stepped in a pretty deep glacial puddle while hiking and was really worried I'd have a chilly foot for the rest of the day. Thankfully, the boot kept me totally dry through that, the waterfalls, and the intermittent showers. As far a comfort, they're okay. My feet are on the wider side (2E), and there is a noticeable but bearable pressure on my metatarsals even after breaking them in. Not the most comfortable boots ever, but they did fine for a 5-day excursion. Build construction is fine and I expect them to last a couple years at most. That said, I wish they'd used metal for the lace hooks for added durability. I'll be putting them to the real test when I take them to Tahoe this winter, though. Overall fantastic boots if you expect to be trudging on varied terrains and want to keep your toes dry with a bit of warmth.

Product lives up to no promises I have been a loyal Merrell customer for almost 15 years, almost 20 pairs, and this is the first time I have been dissapointed. I bought these boots in July 2017 for my year in Svalbard in the arctic. I thought the alleged better traction would suffice for hiking and working on glaciers, and in town for snow. They are very comfortable to wear, as all Merrells are. The upper ankle is a little lacking in support. However, the waterproofing is non existant. I noticed the problem on my first hike, when crossing a small stream only a few inches deep. The water lapped up to edge of the laces, and water came in in. Additionally, after this first hike the soles of the boots had large chunks ripped out of them. (see attached picture) When attempting to work on a glacier yesterday, September 1st, I was slipping on the ice constantly, and could not find purchase on the surface, while others in regular hiking boots were getting much better traction than I was. When crossing a river this morning, September 2nd, the water went about 4 inches up the boot, and the boots became soaked on the inside and I was forced to spend the day working in the field with cold, wet feet. These boots have not lived up to any of my expectations, and I absolutely would not recommend them for actual use in the arctic, or on glacial ice, despite the name.

Great looking, comfort and quality not so great. I ordered these boots just over two weeks ago now and I do like how they look, cold weather protection and grip they offer. I do Solar installations so I have to work outdoors and on roofs all day and I find them great for using on roofs. But then again, any shoe with Vibram soles are good like these. With thin socks the rivets towards the top bite into your feet because the padded tongue moves out of the way. When you flex your feet as you're kneeling the eyelets area is very uncomfortable to the point you have to reposition your feet. The latest issue is with the sole detaching towards the front on the left shoe. I've reached out to customer service let's see what happens. For the amount of money these shoes cost I was expecting higher quality.

High Recommend! Great for even extreme conditions Very good boots. I went to Iceland with these and they did not disappoint. I hiked on a glacier, went ice climbing, also did a hike through deep snow for over 5 hours and stayed very warm and completely dry! You can feel the difference with the arctic grip technology, i felt in complete control even when walking on very icy streets and sidewalks.

They Fit! Winter....cold, sloppy, icy.....with a long, skinny foot, finding a fit has been challenging. Now I have what I need for the winter slop and ice in the Rocky Mtns. They fit great, they don't seem to slip with the Vibram sole, they are warm and comfy. What more can you ask for?
