I was advised by my local stockist that this boot is the replacement for the Siren boot. The Siren is a hard act to follow but even so this boot doesn't appear to come up to the usual Merrell standard and the materials, such as the laces, look cheap in comparison to others. The boots have only one hook at the ankle so it's harder to get a really snug fit for steep/uneven surfaces and I do notice the sole slips more than anyother boot I've had. That may be due to the very wet ground at the moment or to the shorter than normal lug. I'd suggest that this boot is OK for walking but not great for longer or more challenging hikes which I'd expect it to do given the cost. I have also experienced pain in my knee and hip when wearing these boots which I do not experience at other times. It maybe that I have a faulty boot or that my anatomy/posture is not right but I have now stopped using the boots. Hopefully this is a one off but I suggest a bit of caution in trying on and breaking in these boots.
