I got these to replace an old pair of Merrell walking shoes that I'd had for about 10 years that finally died. I wanted something waterproof, lighter-weight, but still supportive. I also wanted the possibility of breaking into running while out with them. So, they fit nicely - the toe is a bit roomy. With other brands I usually take a 9, with Merrell it's 9.5. The sole is quite flexible (compared to the rigidity of a proper walking shoe/boot), but I feel like they support my feet and toes well. They're quite warm shoes. It says they are breathable, but if I wear them casually for extended periods I sometimes find that I have mildly damp socks after a while - but not so much that it's problem. I like them, I wear them casually, to go walking in, and to run (off road) in. They have some cushioning which is just right. They're lightweight. I like the ankle support. They're good as a versatile all-round shoe that works in most situations.
