I was looking for a smart looking winter coat, suitable for wearing to the office and also for my forthcoming trip to New York. I've tested this coat out in the snow that we had a week ago, the driving rain that followed and now the gale force winds and its AMAZING!!! Im all snug and warm and love it! Only slight issue, as someone else mentioned, is that its crumpled from the packaging and its hard to get the creases and button intentations out.

I bought this coat because I wanted something warm and waterproof but not looking like a ski jacket. It's fantastic for that. Very warm and looks pretty good too. Only thing I would change would be to put the hand warmer pockets higher, however, understand why they are behind the other pockets.

It's been many years since I've bought a decent, waterproof and warm winter coat, and the thought actually filled me with dread! Until I followed a link onto this website and found the Haven. My boyfriend is a life long member of the Merrell fan club, so I am aware how robust and long lasting their products are. The Haven coat really is the best item of clothing I have bought in the last 5 years. The style is modern and looks good, but it is also practical and I can tell this coat will last for many years to come. About the coat: This coat is warm. This coat is very warm. In fact most of the time I go out with just a long sleeve t-shirt on and the coat over the top. There is no need for jumpers, it is that warm! But if I am going out walking or in the cold for a long period of time, I can also easily fit a large thick jumper underneath and I will be toasty. The elasticated sleeves are great for keeping a draught out (you have trouble wearing a watch or any wrist jewellery because of the elastic, but that's no problem) and the high collar can be done right up and the warmth kept in. The hood is large, large enough if you wanted to wear a beanie too, and comes over far enough to protect your face from the elements. The zip goes to the top, but it also has the advantage of a lower zip that will open from the bottom; ideal for when driving or sitting, as it stops that tight feeling over the upper thigh, and limits any chance of the zip breaking form stretching the material. The toggles add a parka-esque feel to the coat, and keeps it looking bang on trend. The material is lovely (I have the espresso colour) and it is seriously water resistant. In fact, the water seems to run off it, and you can probably shake it dry (also resistant to mulled wine as I found out recently!!) The pockets are deep, and snap close with the poppers. There is the added bonus of the hand warmer pocket too. In regards to the smaller, but equally important details; there is a zipped inner pocket, and last, but not least, a sturdy robust won't-ever-snap hook to hang the coat up! The only down side of the coat, is it is quite bulky, not the sort of coat that's easy to carry around if you get too warm (wear layers underneath) but, quite frankly, I never like to take it off anyway!! I have found myself wanting to walk places, just so I can wear my wonderful coat! I cannot rate this coat enough. The sizing is great (I'm a rather large girl, the XL fits wonderfully!) and I have had many compliments on it since I bought it. If you buy one thing this winter, make it this coat. Seriously! Now to save for the Mila scarf and hat to complete my snug bug rug look! Merrell - I salute you :)

This coat is very warm and comfortable, and also very stylish. I bought it as I was looking for a coat I could wear to work (over a suit) that would be a warm as an 'outdoor' jacket but which would not look like I had just wandered in off a mountain! The Haven coat is just the ticket. Really cosy, hood to keep out the elements, hand warmer pockets and the elasticated toggles which are easy to fasten if you have cold hands. Only downside...I ordered my coat from the web, and whilst it arrived promptly it was squashed in a small cardboard box and despite steaming it I have so far been unable to shift the very stubborn creases left by it being squashed in the box. This spoils the appearance :-( Otherwise however I am loving the coat and have had several compliments about it.

I've just got my jacket posted. I'm a SMALL for everything, I'm 163 cm tall and 53 Kg; also quite small complexion, I use a UK4 for shoes. The jacket size is correct in shoulders, breast and back but the wrists are super small! I can't use my watch and globes at the same time, they are also shorter than you would expect in a winter jacket. Also the neck is small, you can't close it to the top and use a scarf at the same time, as you will need for winter. I don't think I have a special size or shape, It's just wrongly done. The hood is also small and you can't remove it, and again the scarf wouldn't fit, It there just for the estetics. I will keep it, just because I just moved to a very cold country and I really need a worm one NOW, but I'll have to tweak it a bit in order to be able to move my hands. I was thinking of getting one for mum this Xmas but she her wrist are bigger and she won't be able to pass her hand though!! Not recommended for jewel lovers.
